Had a chance today to give the recently acquired D8 a steaming...

It ran reasonably well, not a great deal of power, probably needed a bit more lube I think. One of the SVs looks like its sticking, apart from that a really nice running example form the 60s.

Two first class steam engines Gentlemen, and a fitting way to close the year.

We're a bit up in the air here at the moment.. About to move house (but it means I can get a *propper* workbench in a suitable location!)

Here are a few things I've been doing.

Picked up this Burnac locally

Also this Bowman 410 which is a rare beastly in any condition

I've modded an SR1a with a layshaft

And my current project is another modified SR1a to look like Aveling and Porter roller #3103 of 1892.

The Burnac is nice, great with the funnel and burner - these always go missing. The 410 is a real find. The smallest Bowman and the hardest to get hold of, not the most powerful with an M175/180 set up, but Ive seen them pull a wagon a a fair lick, once set up properly. Some good scores here!
