Thank you Sparrow for getting me to listen so closely to this.

The Mating Of The Doves (original)

From the Gulf of Aden to the marble coast
to the rolling hills of Oregon
And the Tigris River and the wind that blows
in the hanging bowers of Babylon

I'm a fool for giving all that I gave
to you pitiful people
when the world was made
and if I come back down from the stars above
it's just to watch
the mating of the doves

I was there in Egypt when your king was slain
and it made me cry a million tears
and it formed a river in a western state
and it carved a canyon through the years

And I'm a fool ...

so you can preach of Heaven and you can warn of Hell
and you can murder millions in my name
But I gave you Heaven and the only Hell
is the one you made from fear and hate

you're all fools for thinking that I'm coming back
for some firey judgement
and turn the worlds to black
and if I come back down it's not to judge but love
and to be among
the mating of the Doves

Been All Around This World (trad with new lyrics)

Goin up on the mountain where I'll make my stand
Goin up on the mountain where I'll make my stand
rifle on my shoulder six shooter in my hand
Lord, I been all around this world

Hang me Oh Hang me I'll be dead and gone
Hang me Oh Hang me I'll be dead and gone
Lord ain't the hanging just a-waitin in the jail so long
Lord I've been all around this world

If you see a rich girl send her down the line
If you see a rich girl send her down the line
If you see a poor one tell her she's a friend a friend of mine
been all around this world, Lord
been all around this world

Mama and papa and baby sister makes three
Mama and papa and baby sister make three
going down t' the gallows that's the last they'll see of me
I've been all around this world, boys
been all around this world

I could be wrong but I though Ian was saying,

"Oh I'm back from the dead and now I'm sitting up in bed"
"Watching these sitcoms desolve"

Hi everyone again. This mating of the doves is a good song, and to be honest if Ian felice sings a phone book I'm gonna love it, but this song's lyrics are very similar in theme and narrative style as Bob Dylan's "make you feel my love" (most famously covered by Adele).

Unlike the Dylan version , Ian's song injects human feelings into gods narrative, and it ends up sounding preachy rather than focusing on the Love.
