Hello all I have a 75 F-100 390" 4barrel C-6 3.00 rear gear ratio runs good for almost 300,000 miles .For a long time now I've noticed that the trans shifts through low gear way to fast I'm not even through the intersection it shifts to second, and then shifts to high normaly. Is it a adjustment prob ,or what???

Fords of that era had a primary governor valve that was far too heavy.
It would shift almost as soon as you touched the gas pedal.

You can try installing a lighter valve or installing a longer modulator pin.

But at 300,000 miles almost anything is possible.

I have a spare governor in my stash of spares, and a trippel beam scale can I drill it lighter,a guess how much lighter? Or what length pin should I look for?

Take both governors apart and compare the weights.

Then install the governor with the lightest ones.
