By the sound of that you have an AOD transmission.

No electronics.

The throttle pressure seems too high.

Would explain the shifting a little rough but not completely shifting into overdrive is a new one to me. Going from 4th to 3rd was giving me trouble in the past. Going from 4th to 3rd it would wrap the engine before engaging. Then one day it moves to shift 3rd to 4th and then nothing engine winds up but never engages and been that way ever since. Limped it around in D until the torque convertor finally gave out. Figure when it was the cause of my problem to begin with but here it is with a new one in it still refusing to shift. Not the TV on this one because 3rd disengages and 4th never engages and it just coasts until it reaches a speed it decides to kick back into 3rd.

New trans time or is there still hope without scattering it all over the shop?

Your AOD is either very gummy vb or servos and possibly even governor.

but my bet is that it is time for a rebuild. The AOD and trucks never agreed with each other in stock form.

You are spouting the classic signs of OD band failure and even possible dirrect clutch failure.

However, I was able to once resurect an AOD by cleaning the vb up and the servo's to get it by - but not for long.
