Hey everyone, ive pretty much almost completed this set, however compared to the PremierLeague editions set that Topps produce, I found this one rather dissapointing. And here's why:
The reason I collect the cards of Topps, besides the fact it is exceptionally fun and I really enjoy it. Is the fact that I actually learn alot about the respective clubs and the players involved. I love the fact that in the PremierLeague editions no matter if its Manchester United, Chelsea or even Blackpool then there's still the same amount of cards to collect for each club. Before the season begun I had no idea who were the "ones to watch" so to speak fir teams like Blackpool and WBA, however now I feel thanks to Topps I know a great deal about every player, it strengthens and increases my knowledge of the beautiful game
However for the 2010 world cup edition, I didnt experience this. I was left dissapointed that for certain teams we only had 2 cards to collect (e.g. Algeria and New Zealand.) New Zealand who of course were the only team to be undefeated in the 2010 World Cup. I feel as though they should have taken the emphasis off England and made the album more internationally friendly, by for example having the same amount of cards to collect for each team.
Any views & opinions whether you agree or disagree would be greatly appreciated

Im in 100% agreement :1356
Topps main priority is that its a trading card game though which is a problem for collectors who I, as you, would prefer players from all teams and not 265 england players in the set (slight exaggeration...!!)

To experience sort of what you're describing the Sticker album versions for these sets are quite good as they provide stats for the players about their careers etc, and are able to include more players at that. Personally, along with many other people I suspect, cards are more fun to collect though.

Match Attax England did highlight the main players for each team and if you'd have had say 9 players for Algeria their scores would have probably dropped to the 30s for example and would be generally undesirable. With the World Stars set however there were a few more players included and they look a great addition to any match attax england binder. (I could provide ebay links if you're interested)

Great post, I understand completley. I just find it a tad frustrating and just wish they could have dibulged abit more into other teams. The world cup is arguably the most unpredictable tournament in the world so to have loads of cards available for England, France and Italy who all had awful world cup and to have like 5/6 cards on Ghana who had a great world cup, I think is a abit unfair and embarrasing on Topps behalf. As for the Ebay links, much appreciated but no thank you, i'll stick with concentrating on the premierLeague set for now Love your videos by the way

:cheers I couldnt believe the amount of England players available, they used so many they were almost running out of ideas and using inferior choices, I mean Carlton Cole?! :shrug

and uruguay. fourth place!

As topps are the license owers for england, they would have to prioritise the england squad. and there wouldn't be many cards from the teams mentioned above. this is usually aimed at children and you don't expect a 10 year old naming the entire 23 man squad for algeria.

I would have prefered a larger set with equal teams in although as Panini did the official South Africa set it should be them that had equal teams with every team in them. As Match Attax has the England licence and not the Fifa licence I didn't mind the unequalness of the teams, but Panini should have been more equal to all the countries.

Haha, cheers

I suppose the main thing is appeal, I mean, a collection based in England alone thats main function is to be a game won't really work as good as a collecter's collection, because of how people will make teams etc. I wished they'd released more to make up the numbers for the people who's main motive is just to collect though. Though I'd bet they only did players like Heskey because Cappello had the crazy idea he's be lifting the World Cup at the end of the tournament XD
