Need info: Can anyone give me the address and when it moved from Carrollton? The old place that was on Carrollton in the 40's and 50's.

I can still taste it in my imagination. With pickles and toast!

Don't know the exact address on Carrollton. I'll do some digging and see what I can find.

3100 South Carrollton Avenue. Richard Collin has it listed in his book, the New Orleans Underground Gourmet, published 1973.

Jim's had carhop service, a regular dining room or you could eat in the bar like we did. We used the pinball machines for our tables.

I remember going to another Jim's on Airline Highway in Kenner after the old place shut down.

swears it was "further down" Carrollton and she's going to lose a bet if your location is correct, CopCop.

My mother always pointed it out as the place she ate chicken and threw up all night afterwards. It was near/on the corner of Earhart.

It started out on Carrollton and Washington (or Palmetto...whatever that intersection is....), but they had to move when the upramp to the GNO Expressway was built. That's when they moved to 3100 S. Carrollton.

This was the Original Jim's Famous for Fried Chicken at S. Carrollton and Washington (the street here is really named Drexel Avenue for one block). The location is now a parking area for the Xavier University Campus Police and the upramp for I-10/GNO Expressway.

You can see the overhead wires for the electric buses that used to run on S. Carrollton. If you look between the building and the telephone pole you can see the stadium lights for old Pelican Stadium.

Neon chickens? The only chicken I remember was the chicken on my plate. They probably had a flashing chicken somewhere outside.
