Victorious bit 'n' bobs in P3D v4

I have a fresh install of Prepar3D v4.2. I've been away from FS carrier aviation, mostly because 1) the RFN Gauge wasn't 64-bit compatible; and 2) the Flying Stations Buccaneers aren't 64-bit compatible. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for 2, but in the meantime the RFN Gauge is now 64-bit, which has got me [trying] to fly on/off decks again, mostly using RFN aircraft (e.g. the Zephyr). I reckon the interim period has caused me to get very rusty (not just in terms of stick & rudder, but also in terms of getting things properly setup in the sim) and subtle differences with P3D versions (much more subtle than 32 vs 64-bits) are having an influence. Also, I'm prone to mistakes and a fading memory!

That preamble/caveats aside I'm now revisiting post-war HMS Victorious, both the 1960 version and the '64/'66 versions. There are a few things about these which I don't recall from before. They may be due to changes in the sim, or they may just be my dodgy memory. I guess I'm hoping someone can confirm one way or the other... and perhaps if mods can be made if needed...?
  • Whether I'm tuned into Vic or not when I fly near/over her she always fires flares from the bow, as if trying to tell me to **** off!
  • It seems that sometimes the landing sight lights on the '60 version don't appear until after the "call the ball". Do others observe the same? Can the viewing distance be extended?
  • The lights on the '64/'66 version were always designed to be viewed from farther away, which works fine... but at a distance (e.g. on downwind) they appear very wide indeed (perhaps even as wide as the carrier itself) and seem way out of scale. The width reduces with range.
Also, the AO beneath the Buccs & Vixen in '64/'66 is excellent. I don't see the same beneath the Scimitars etc. in '60. Can revised textures with AO for the earlier deck be made?

I'm also reminded of how sick I'd become with either French or American LSO announcements... I think I'm gonna have to record my own!

Regarding my 2nd point above... Here are two screenshots with identical setup. One has the lights showing, the other doesn't. The range from the carrier is 3/4 mile (at the end of the wake), where I assume the lights should be visible.

To take these shots I paused the sim. The one with no lights I took right away. Before I took the second I zoomed in and out again. This makes me think it is a LOD/visibility distance issue???

I've just realised that the colours on the sight have changed as well...!

I was expecting a yellow meatball with green datum lights, as usual:

However, I'm getting white datum lights:

My hunch this is either down to the sim or the RFN Gauge, but the insight of others would be appreciated...

BTW I tried upping my LOD radius from High to Ultra, but it didn't influence the lights. I note in RFN_Parameters.xml the meatball is supposed to be active from 2nm, but mine certainly isn't!
