Hey, speaking as an outsider, but I hope this place finds a home elsewhere.  This is the place I wish I found 15 years ago, it's very rare to see a forum as close knit as this.  Really, it's something special.

I may not know much about setting up forum software, but has anyone looks into AcmimBoard?  It's not identical to the old software on Yuka, but it does bring back a lot of the same feelings of old school forumness with a lot of modern twists.

Anyways, hope no one minds my two cents.

No, no, you're better if you didn't find this place 15 years ago. You would just be caught up in all its troubles like everyone else.

I guess this board, which has been a staple since my childhood, is truly done.

I think everyone who was still coming here for the past year are good and nice people. But I'm not mentally fit for running this place anymore and I think that breaking my ties with it is probably best for me in the long run.

Sorry to see that happen. I've enjoyed my time here over the decades

Thanks. I wish I could say the same. It's been a nightmare for me.

FO was putting up with abuse for years and stayed silent to keep us happy. Now that I've been informed of the truth of what was going on it's not possible (or appropriate) to act like nothing's wrong and talk about video games.

This is Omelas, and I'm walking away.

Just some of my own possibly ignorant opinions to throw into the mix:

I understand if anyone doesn't want to continue posting here. The administration that did terrible things and everybody dislikes is gone, but they left their legacy behind. I know that can make being here awkward and uncomfortable for some.

But if we were to make a new forum and start again, we wouldn't have their posts everywhere. We wouldn't have that constant reminder. And we'd be far more careful about who is elected mod or admin. With such a small community, mods are probably not even necessary, and FO and Paul (or just Paul if FO doesn't want to do this anymore) are the only admis we would require. We don't need to grant powers to people as a reward for posting a lot. As we've seen time and again, that creates more problems than it solves.

The fact that you're even suggesting this, Gabbianni, is incomprehensible to me. How many of you knew what was going on here and for how long did you know? Did you really think it was okay to just let things go on like nothing was wrong knowing full well what was happening? Did you think that just because this is a small community, it would be okay?

Magnus Crowe, FO divulged sensitive information to people she trusted. Perhaps there was some reason you weren't included, but that's her business to say, not mine.
