I have just registered my fs1e as an 'historic vehicle' and noticed that the v5 no longer has the history of any previous owner. So the vehicle is now considered 'historic' but dvla have decided to no longer provide any history!
Also I chased them up after waiting over 4 weeks for the v5 and they told me that they hadn't received anything from me, 3 days later my new v5 arrives!
Seems they really don't have a clue

Hi ,
All New & Updated V5's since GDPR was brought in on the 25th May 2018, do not have the previous owners details for data protections reasons . Yes I had fun recently registering my fs1e as historic with the post office and DVLA . DVLA sent me a cheque for £19 of fs1e road tax I never paid ;-) and 6 weeks later a update V5 as historic ..

So, in both instances, were the post office involved in sending the V5 back to the DVLA for updating?

Yes, had to fill a form declaring it mot exempt and v5 with change to taxation class, took to post office and they send to dvla and issue a tax receipt to me. 5 weeks later got new v5 stating historic vehicle.

Im going to have to do mine.

So, Ive seen the form you download and print off for the MOT exemption, but just to be clear, which part of the V5 do I fill in, and with what?

I recently registered mine as Historic at the local Post Office - there was no charge and the Post Office sent off the V5 to DVLA for the update.
4 weeks later I received a cheque from DVLA for a refund of the road tax (that i had never paid). 2 weeks later i received a letter from DVLA telling me that I was not entitled to cash the cheque and it should be destroyed or else I could be liable for bank charges.
Arses and elbows come to mind!

I took two log books to the post office with the MOT exemption forms. Paid nothing and came away with the two tax discs. They kept the log books to change the class to historic. I didn't fill anything in on the log books and wasn't asked to. The lady on the counter seemed to know exactly what the process was.

A couple of weeks later both original log books arrived back to me separately from the DVLA, accompanied by a standard letter asking why I'd sent them them in. I was going to send them straight back with an explanation, but a day or two later one new log book arrived with the class changed to historic, then about a week later the other one as well.
