Always being asked what paint codes are for the various Fizzy models so lets put a list together

This will be one big learning exercise as I can't think of anyone who would sit down and compose a comprehensve list but lets not be put off by that. If you have a code or good match then just say.

Knowing very little about paint codes it looks like there is a Bestel Number that paint suppliers use. Guess this is what we are looking for?

Here is a list of paint colours I can think off. Please post additional colours, tips, good matches etc in this thread and I will update this post from time to time

At the end of the day RS Paints have a very good range of FS1E colours and any good local paint shop / painter should be able to find a decent match. Also look in the back of classic bike mags where all the big boys tend to hang out. If you get a good match let us know

WARNING - You take this advice on this thread at your risk :ph43r: :ph43r: You need to double check the code matches your requirements

Competition Yellow (thanks to Davecumbria)
------------------------------------------------------

Paint Colour = 26/CPY
Bestel = 1815

Notes: Unless I am mistaken this if for both the early Pinstripe Yellow DX and the Kenny Roberts Speedblook. If I am wrong just say

Cosmic Blue (thanks to http://www.motorradlack.de )
----------------------------------------------------------------

Paint Colour = CCB/5H
Bestel = 1722

Notes: This is for the rarer early Blue Pinstripe early DX.

Candy Gold (thanks to http://www.motorradlack.de )
---------------------------------------------------------------

Paint Colour = 59 (?)
Bestel = 1646

Notes. Motorradlack specify Candy Gold so I guess this is the one

Others to Source:
------------------------

Popsicle Purple - R1 (Darker)
Popsicle Purple - R15 (Lighter)
Baja Brown
Chappy Red
Yamaha Silver
FS1 Blue
FS1 Red

Andy
The content and thought is a good one but I done this on my Raleigh Chopper site years ago,
Speaking from experience only 3 leading paint manufactures list bike colours,
problem is they all have their own codes and again they dont go back as far as the 70's.
Most 70's fizzies etc are candys which are a coloured lacquer on to a silver base, As with all candys the amount of coats creates the colour and trying to make a modern paint do this is ni on impossible.

The yellow, baja and R9 are basecoats and are relatively easily applied.

Candys well if you are expeirienced you may just get it correct.
Rs bike paints are good but a small pot of candy is over £40 candy gold being £70+ and thats without the silver ground coat. primers lacquer etc.

I buy my candys in quart tins which does approz 7 tin sets this is the only economical way to do the job.

My advice for what its worth is get the job done properly, its much more cost efficient.

I will willing assist any DIYers with any help or advice they require.
They call me the Pied Piper,

Can anyone advise on the silver used for such parts as the rear lens housing etc.

Have a few tiny marks and don't want to repaint the whole thing just touch it in.

Anyone help with this?

Robert

I couldn't find BAJA BROWN in that PDF list
There aren't that many fs1e colours to name, perhaps if someone knows them, could they list them here?
