Never had any dealing with these things, always been premix for me.

Anyway. Ive come across a poorly looking on in the dark recesses of the shed, and its currently soaking in paraffin.

How far can you strip these things for servicing?

Whats likely to spring out at me and get lost?

and which bits should move?

I put in last one because I know its cable operated, and the drum where the cable fits is currently solid!

Thanks in advance.

Try this powerpoint link.

http://www.ydsparts.com/Yamaha%20oil%20 ... ebuild.ppt

I've not read it recently, but I think there is a point at which some small bits can jump out and get lost. I think I did that operation inside a poly bag.

oh deep joy!!

I got as far as taking the nut off the cable drum side, discovering 3 brass washers behind the large washer and then putting it back finger tight.

The link didn't display a page for me either, but it should have downloaded the ppt file into your downloads folder.

The file will be called 'Yamaha oil pump rebuild.ppt' and should have been saved in your downloads folder when you clicked on the link. At least that's where it would have gone if you have a windows PC. I know nothing about what happens on those smart phone thingy's or apple computers.

To open the file and view it as a slide show you need either Microsoft Powepoint which is part of office. If you don't have that (I don't either) there's a free windows program called 'Apache Open Office' which works well and is easy to find using google.
