Well it's been a longer than usual off season for me this year.  I just couldn't get the desire to go in these colder temps. and I was in between boats.  I was finally able to upgrade boats.  I bought a friends 2014 Ranger 518C with a 200 Pro XS and dual Power Poles.  He bought it brand new and it probably has around 100 hours on it.  I think I'll be happy with that for some time.  It sure is nice getting around a lot faster!  My 1st trip of the year was last Sat. pre fishing for a club tourny at Milton.  We fished the tourny the next day.  In 2 days on the water I never had a single bite.  The lake was extremely dirty and a little high.  Only 7 out of 28 boats brought in a fish.  Not the start I expected on one of my favorite lakes.  So I headed out to Portage yesterday evening with a buddy.  Fished it from 2:30pm-7:30pm.  Beautiful afternoon to start.  A little breezy with  water temps at 63.  Until we got pounded by a storm from 5-6:30.  We stuck it out and fished through it.  We only ended up with 8 fish.  I had 4 keepers that put me around the 14 lb mark.  My first fish of the year was at 5.2 lb's.  I think she got me my groove back, to say the least.  3 more at 3 lbs capped it off.  And a couple dinks.  It felt great to get some bites.  Hopefully that was the start of a successful season.

Love the color scheme on the boat. I might be bias because Blue, silver and black are my favorite. That a great rig. That is a nice outing also.

Sweet new boat.  And you just can't beat a 5 pounder as your first fish of the year.  What a great first trip.  I'm sure you'll do good all year.  And if you don't you'll look good doing anyway in your new boat.
