Dave his son and I went back up after them smallmouth on Friday. Something about them big brown fish keep you wanting more!! We took Dave’s boat and he picked me up little before 6:00. We got to the ramp around 8:15. Took half hour to get all our cold weather gear on and boat launched. We made a quick trip couple miles from the ramp. Got set up on waypoints from last Friday and Dave’s boy was hooked up fairly quick. After a short battle he landed this nice 5-10 smallmouth.

We moved back up on the spot and I was holed up and landed one around 4 lbs. didn’t get pic of it. Motored back up and dave was hooked up with one around 4 lbs also. Soon as he landed it I was hooked up. This was 5-5 and was pic worthy.

At this point the wind was starting to pick up. We made another pass and I hooked into a big fish. After a minute it finally showed itself. It was a steelhead. Which was my first ever. It put up a great fight. We motored back up and dave caught one that weighed 5-0.

My made another pass and I was hooked up again. I knew right away it was another steelhead. At this point we had a drift sock out. Well you can imagine what happened. It made a great leap from the water once st the back of the boat. Got it to the side and it ran under the drift sock and sky rocketed out of the water and landed right in the middle of the straps on drift sock. It was a fiasco all three of us was trying to get it in. My on rod, dave with bet and Dave’s boy pulling drift sock in. Lol. We got though. At this point the wind was pushing muddy water into the area we were catching fish. We went couple hours without a bite. Dave and I each caught 1 more smallmouth. We ended up with 8 smallmouth, 2 steelheads, and 1 perch. We lost 6 or 7 fish. Here are pic of steelheads.

Those are some good fish guys.  That wind can be brutal cold on the water.

Kevin,  I'm curious have you guys ever caught one on a blade in that area?  I've never caught one on that section of the lake on a blade bait for whatever the reason be.

Same here rick we have tried Blades and have never caught one. Another buddy that goes up there he hasn’t either. Not sure what the reasoning. Catch them around the islands on blades but not here.

More big smallies and some bonus steelhead.  Very nice! I'm sure you're dying to get back out there and try it again.
