In America we are now officially in the three day holiday weekend that defines the beginning of the summer season in many people's mind. There may be numerous triggers being faced many of our less than one year quitters. Everyone should be on their guard and be mentally prepared that there may be a few more thoughts about smoking than normal. At the same time, no one should feel unduly threatened or intimidated by these possible thoughts, for thoughts and triggers have no potential of undercutting a quit by causing a relapse as long as you continue to stick to your personal commitment to never take another puff.

With the Labor Day weekend here in the United States, the end of our Summer season schedule and activities are upon us. The fall has a new new flavor and can cause many new triggers for our most recent quitters. You can get through Fall triggers though the same way you got through all your summer triggers--by staying focused on the fact that no matter the weather or activities that are happening around you, your quit will stay strong and secure as long as you always remember to never take another puff! With the 4th of July Holiday week here, its time to prepare for the onslaught of new patterns associated with three day weekends (five this year for lots of people), holidays and the rituals of summer. Stay focused on the fact that summer, winter, spring and fall are all nicer when you have the health to partake in the events of the season, no matter what the season may be. To maintain that health and ensure more seasons, always remember to never take another puff!

Seasonal changes sometimes present us with the once in a while triggers associations we built for so long, especially in our first year of recovery. When they come along meet them, greet them and defeat them by saying So Long old ways.......I don't do that any more.
