Need 390 parts for a rebuild

I've got a 69 F-250 Ranger that has a bad oil pump and needs a new flywheel. The 390 in it runs fairly well, but I can't help but think about how gutsy it would be after a fresh rebuild.

Where is the best place to find rebuild kits for these engines? I've looked at a few places and seen some wildly different prices. I'm not looking to go crazy with it. I'd like a fairly stock engine with perhaps a slightly more beefy cam (I'm after low and mid-range power - not high HP). An aftermarket intake manifold would probably be wise, I figure, and I've got a spare Edelbrock carb lying around somewhere that should go nicely with it. Someday, I may add headers. Depending upon how much the short block costs me, I may spring for some head work as well.

So, any ideas re: where I should purchase the parts from? Any tips with regards to the rebuild and or the parts I'm choosing to use? I'm not by any means an FE afficionado (I don't even know what FE means, in fact). I once owned a 65 Galaxie with a 352 Interceptor in it and the engine... would... not... die. It was bulletproof. I've had a soft spot for the engine line ever since.

I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!

....Get yourself a "Summit" cat. scogging dickey cat. and a PAW cat.
Most places are chevy dominated but you'll find lot's of good stuff there too. Yeah, Jegs is a good source too.
If you're looking for rebuild kits the PAW cat. is a good reference guide. At PAW FE stuff is still going strong. But you should be aware of their sometimes less than excellent quality on engine parts and kits.
There are a few other forum mates that run FE parts business. There are many other sources just SFTFN.
Good luck
