Congrats! I've said it before when you post, but it still blows my mind that you get both Rufous and Ruby-throated (and Calliope, too, if I recall). Very cool combination--east meets west! How does this arrival date compare to other years? Do the Rufous always beat the Ruby-throated to your neck of the woods?

And Dan--aren't you getting a little greedy? Haven't you had one or more Rufous at your place already?

Congrats both of you on your new arrivals!

Good Memory.... This is my earliest sighting yet, last year was May 10 and yes the Rufous are always first by a week or two. He was still buzzing around at dusk enjoying a Cuphea I overwintered indoors.

So wonderful Renee---what a handsome little dude he is!! It is our dream to have one of these in our yard and to leave somewhere where we could enjoy Ruby-throats and another species (and have a longer growing season). You have so much more excitement to come---enjoy every moment!!

I had two rufous show up in my yard a few years ago, one in April and one in November. They are probably the only two I will ever see.

I was late starting them as we were away but they all germinated quickly and are coming along nicely. I'm so thankful to you for sending them and I'm sure my hummers will be too. I owe you Cheri.
