Pet peeve of mine is seeing post after post with beautiful pictures relating to posters' yards with all the necessary details about the plants thriving in their yard, but I struggle to know if the plant will thrive in "my area", without knowing where the poster resides.

It's pretty simple to add a signature including your location to ever post you make and make me very, very happy !

Click on the "Frequently asked questions" link on the opening page.
Select "Add a signature to my messages".

If I could do it, just about anyone can, many would appreciate your curtesy and not have to ask "where are you located" ?

Thanks for considering this suggestion.

BTW: I just checked all the posts submitted today and the reply's, most have not indicated their location including a few long time posters. I may remember their location (NJ etc.) but many reading will not have a clue! I may be out of line in pontificating on the location issue but I do believe it's helpful to anyone providing advice to posters asking for advice.

I share the desire to know crucial weather/zone information. After several times of my signature suddenly disappearing I just put my info in my profile which can be accessed by simply clicking on a member's login name. Now I don't have to keep entering a new signature.

I am in total agreement here. It is very difficult to answer a question without a general location. I understand the need for privacy, especially today, but even a general location (Upper Midwest, Florida, Southeast, etc.) would be very helpful and still maintain the person's confidentiality. If people cannot manage to understand the Network 54 settings, they should mention their general location in their message (at least until we get to know them)---that's easy enough.

I usually just take a map of the USA and throw a dart at it. Where it lands is the location of the Op.

Amazing that your dart always pinpoints 'Northlake, IL'!

That's cause Alex keeps hitting his head on the swingset in his yard
so his dart throwing is off
