I'm really getting desperate to see a hummingbird, so I've hung out the welcome signs

I think I see your problem, most hummingbirds speak Spanish.

You are so right Ward! I should have thought about that. I must make up new signs.

Thanks Ilena! This is what happens when I get bored :p I know what you mean about the 6 month wait. It was really bad for me in Ohio, by about March everything that I caught out of the corner of my eye was definitely a hummingbird LOL

Very cute Rhonda, but seriously, I'm really sorry that you are not seeing any hummingbirds at the moment. This is how we feel during the month of May as we anxiously await the arrival of our first hummingbird (since the prior October for most of us) in the Upper Midwest. I hope you see a hummer soon---if not, they don't know the delicious bounty in your garden that they are missing!!

Well, since Ward pointed out that most hummingbirds speak Spanish, I have redone my signs

Now, maybe they'll come.

Thanks Kathi and Michael. Yes, I remember the months in Ohio that seemed to drag on waiting for the hummers to return. But what a glorious day that was

I just get so envious of the Florida members who have over winterers. I seem to be surrounded by them. So, I've decided I'll just do my best to keep blooms for them all winter and maybe one day they'll come.

Pays to advertise according to some and I'll be waiting to see if the hummers take note.

Joe,
Hummers would be much better tenants than the $#%&!@ pocket gophers who are digging their tunnels all over the yard. They even have the gall to poke their noses out of the hole, look at you then get back to digging.

That's cute Doug I think I'll stick with my 6 regular feeders that I can use year-round without being called lazy for not taking my Christmas decorations down LOL

Well since it seems that you have spurned my suggestion at putting out Christmas trees for the hummies. Could I interest you in a new activity as you await their arrival? You mention something else up above that seems to prey upon your mind. I propose that you take after Bill Murray in a well known movie. (Can you name the movie?)

EEEEEeee haaaaw !!

Was some of the music catchy? Did you guess the name of the movie?

Doug,

Those are too funny. I wonder if there are follow-up videos where the explosives went bad? Yep, "Groundhog Day".

We have gopher tortoises that dig but they only dig an entrance and exit so I don't mind them. Burrowing owls and lots of other critters use their tunnels too so they're very beneficial to the native wildlife.

Actually some of those are of a piece of equipment that is sold, designed for that.

Now if you want to build your own equipment home made , here is how to go about it .

http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?t=1145676

And the correct answer was "Caddyshack"

I was looking for one video in particular where some fellow got a tad carried away and I seem to remember that his picnic table in the backyard or his kids playset was damaged a wee bit .

But does'nt that look like fun? After all the torment those critters have caused gardeners. I have had more than one of those critters that I wanted to go "caddyshack" on. .

Now back when I was young and stupid (as opposed to being old and stupid) we used to do a form of redneck fishing (not legal of course but small detail )
