Wondering if this will be repeat of 2014. Just got home last night after a long weekend in Adirondacks, so don't know what day was last visit to feeders, so I'm calling it at 9/10. Will update if required. Got down to 40.9 this morning, very chilly.

I still have hummers, and I can't be too far from you. I have at least 3 as that is what I see chasing each other at the same time.

I'm home today and just saw my first of the day, a female, at 1215. That is late in day, usually they are hitting feeders all morning. I'm West end of Morris County.

Numbers are down since I posted here. I still have hummers, but the constant chases are gone. Also the sugar water levels are not dropping as fast.

I am in eastern Mercer county, so there is some distance between us.

There are still birds moving through. They are at the various gardens and over the weekend there were a few flycatching with groups of migrant warblers. The feeders are all down at this point. They won't go back up until we've hit by the first heavy frost or freeze. At that point it won't be Ruby-throated I am attempting to snag.

None last night at the home gardens and none this morning at the park gardens or feeders. When this first occurs each fall the silence is deafening. I kind of doubt whether the last hummers have visited the gardens, but that does happen this early occasionally.

Haven't seen any in a at least a week. That makes last sighting early for me, like in 2014.

I still had a female (or immature) Rubythroat as late as this past Thursday (Sept 28)... I didn't SEE one yesterday. Will report back if I get another today. As is always the case, the flower garden is BUSTING with blooms now, even though I am nearly hummerless!

My record here (in my Wilmington, Delaware backyard) is November 1, so we have a long way to go yet. My next latest record is October 15.

There have been none that I have seen in the park gardens in more than a week but at home there were at least 4 yesterday.

Ron is right from a flower point of view the end season nectar garden is a party beyond any others. It will go full speed until it slams into an icy wall.

I had another late hummer today (Oct 2). Not sure she/he stayed all day.
