Trying to figure out Mindy's grip and how to go about changing it in the downswing. Can anyone post how it can be done on U-tube? Thanks. Ron

Interested in Mindy Blake's swing. Years ago I owned both books and dabbled with the technique. Retired now and have more time. One point of confusion is the right elbow position which Blake wants to be used as a spring and not a hinge. He apparently believes that using it as a spring will help golfers transmit the power of the legs directly to the club. Thoughts?

Hi Tomt. I came across Mindy's first book for the first time (The Golf Swing of the Future) about a month ago, and found it very interesting, although quite confusing in certain sections, like the grip change as mentioned by the Mojo-Two.

The thing that convinced me there is some merit to his ideas is the grip change. Once i finally understood what he was doing (after multiple re-readings of that section and testing out the instructions with a club), I realised that I was actually making a subconscious grip change myself. This was on good shots - on bad shots, often I wasn't doing the grip change or only doing it partially. Before the book, I had never heard of anyone recommending such a move, nor thought of deliberately doing it myself. So have been practicing to make it consistent in every swing.

To answer your question, I think what you are saying about the right arm is correct, but haven't really tested it out. Will definitely try it out as it seems fundamental to his method.
