Just in case someone sees this and has pc wisdom...: )

The old man just got a 27" monitor to go with my 4 year old Win7 hp...Radeon 4350...4g ram.

It looks good...DMB is superb and the big 1959 size pics don't overlap!!  Nice big print for the old eyes.

However...my pc geek friend moved away and I'm thinking my pc isn't strong enough for the Samsung monitor.
I'm trying to learn how to adjust the sharpness of the print and colors.  But my system will only go to 1920 x 1080.
Maybe that doesn't matter...could just be my lame adjustments.

Plus...my old 22" had the speakers plugged into it.  Evidently that doesn't work with this monitor.  I put the plug in but
it doesn't fit tight so I have no sound.

Just wondering if one of you guys would have any suggestions on what to do.  In the meantime I'll try to read more and
maybe check with Dell on my Inspiron pc.

Thanks for listening to the old man.

DMB...with pics...my created crowd sounds...JW's awesome realistic script...and in big 27" size...MERCY...!!!!

My PC wisdom is minimal but that never stopped me from speculating. :-)

You said "But my system will only go to 1920 x 1080." Did you determine this by going to Control Panels > Appearance and Personalization > Adjust Screen Resolution? If 1920x1080 is the maximum that you're able to set there, then I reckon you're stuck with what you have.

(Your question about your speakers is outta my league, sorry.)

Thanks Nemo. Yep that range is my systems limit. Fact is though if I can do some brightness/contrast stuff correctly I think it will look fine.
I got the print to look good unless it has a black or colored background.

Just spent over an hour installing my original dell speakers...the test shows they work...but there is no sound. : )

Google appears to be no help. Oh well...I'll find a geek that lives near someday. Have a distant relative but he seldom leaves St. Louis.

You take good care. I expected to hear from you. You always help. I would have thought you were a genius on pc's. : )

Finally. Took off the speakers from the old monitor and put on the ones that came with the pc.
Still no sound. Then I got to thinking...how about putting the original speakers plug in the back of the new
monitor. The one from the 22" didn't work there...but maybe...sure enough...a good secure fit and now
I have excellent sound.

My background sounds for DMB and the giant screen. The old man is happy.

Still have the adjust the color contrast etc but it's ok for now.

Feel like a kid with this thread...I'll come back in a couple of days and delete this stuff. : )
