I am a rookie to the Diamond Mind Baseball world and would appreciate your kind assistance.

I am in the process of trying to download the 1920 Season from a site I saw listed in this forum (www.mediafire.com). I am able to download the zip files for the numerous season located at this site however, once I have un-zipped the files, I cannot get Diamond Mind to recognize the file.  I receive an error message which states "Invalid game version (10) in league stat file" but it does not give me the ability to convert the file to work with the newer version (Version 11). I have tried a number of methods which I found reading through past posts however, I still cannot get this to work.

I would appreciate any assistance in learning the steps in the process of downloading, converting if needed and using these early season discs. It is something I would like to know for use with additional seasons. In the meantime, if someone has the 1920 Season converted for use with Version 11, I would appreciate it if you could forward that to me.

Thank you for your kind consideration and help and also thanks to those who have established and maintain this forum.

I'll take a shot at this, but the info is worth what you paid for it ; )

It's been a while, but don't you have to, initially, install a season file in version 10 format using version 10 of the game? Then, with version 11 of the game, I believe you can add reference to this database. At this point, I think a conversion of the season from version 10 format to version 11 will take place.

I had bought a new computer prior to purchasing version 11 and when I purchased version 11 I basically had to rebuild my DMB library. I seem to recall needing to also install version 10 of the game (and version 9, if memory serves) on my new computer as well, so that I could first install these older season disks on the appropriate older version of the game. Then, I opened version 11 of the game and just started adding references to those older seasons, which served to convert them to version 11 format.

As I said, though, it's been a little while... I could be "misremembering".

Typically, season files from 3rd party sources are saved as database backups in the form of a compressed (zipped) folder. The standard method of loading a backup file in DMB is to use the File -> Restore command. Unfortunately, database backup files are not compatible between game versions. In other words, you can restore a backup of a version 11 database using the File->Restore command in version 11, but to restore a database backup created with an earlier version of DMB you need to be using that same version to restore it. If you have an old database backup or exported league database file that is in version 9 format, you will need to restore it using DMB version 9.

If you can get the databases you want to convert restored into an earlier version of DMB on your computer, you can then convert the database to version 11 by using the File -> Copy database command as described in the following topic.
