...well, it's time again for P-DAY!

After Munich (2006) and Hamburg (2007) we decided
to go "back" to Frankfurt this year with a little setup
for a good time, meet and greet.

Early birds were checking in already on thursday afternoon,
so later that day I picked up wingman "P61" to welcome our
first guests.

The first thing we saw was, that somebody was sitting blindfolded
on the table in a restaurant, identifying Panerai watches... LOL!

BBQ having dinner"

The first Asshat checking in (uh oh...)

Bo was teaching the group that Patrick's pink gold Luminor is indeed a NICE watch, while Gary tried to pay attention to what Jassies told him

Covac waiting for the first mistake of "Mr. Blindfolded"

Aurelio aka "The Strap King" seems to be impressed:

...did I mention that Aurelio was impressed?

The first italians arrived as well on thursday: Mirko, Umberto and Piero with Frank - "Prost!"

A view to another table:

"nice!"

Marc (US) and Gary (UK):

John (US) and Frank (AUS):

Piero, Umberto and our mate Asi from Israel:

...before we left the restaurant I could not resist to try a "phat Redwing shot"

Just crossed the street and back at our hotel "The Pure":

"So, Mr. Blindfolded - tell me the secret of your skills, will you?!"

...did I mention that Aurelio was impressed?

Stay tuned for more reports from P-DAY#7 in Frankfurt - to be continued!

Cheers,
Volker

Hi all!

I continue with the activities on friday.

After a short night I returned to the hotel to meet our guests
which just had their breakfast. Polleke, Asi and Jay checking our website:

Shortly after we started for a little walk downtown Frankfurt to make some window shopping.
Gary, Mirko and Eng checking the Panerai display at Bucherer.

I returned around noon to welcome new arrivals: Eric, Scoopster and Davie "90210" Lee together with Marc, Aurelio and me at the hotel lobby:

We had the chance to get an invitation for a factory visit at the Sinn watch company, which is located in Frankfurt, not far away from our hotel. By Taxi we reached the company building. Simone Leseberg from the Sinn marketing department kindly welcomed us together with Mr. Brauckmann, master watchmaker at Sinn (covered from Polleke at this photo).

We were walking thru many interesting production areas, where around 70 people are working.

Spotted a funny slogan... how should I translate that? I try with "hurry up, you real chicken!" Seems like watchmakers have fun at work too, hehe!

Several test instruments were introduced...

...as well as a view into the spare part drawers 8-P

We arrived at a separate room, where all engravings are done by hand
and / or by engraving machines.

Aurelio spotted a nice work on a pocket watch dial:

The lady showed our group some examples of her work: engraved rotors and individual engravings, owner's initials etc.

Another technical feature at Sinn is testing for extreme temperatures.
some UX models were put into conditions of -45 degrees.

...still working!

A big monitor for checking the movement activities:

After that interesting tour we went into the show room to see Sinn's entire collection. Davie and Lars in good mood:

The new U1000 chronograph - chunky one!

Martin from Denmark asked some more detailled questions...

...while Vanni was in macro mode

Jay got his strap fitted to his wrist by Mr. Brauckmann - that's what I call instant customer service!

Before we returned to the hotel Piero was a happy camper next to Simone Leseberg from Sinn marketing:

All of us got a very nice goodie bag. Kudos to the Sinn factory staff for this nice and very interesting tour. Surely some impressions which we will keep in good memory!

(to be continued)

Cheers,
Volker

Hi all,

I'll continue with my report on saturday afternoon, after a long night
and short sleep it was time to get back to Frankfurt, which was fleeded
with paneristi from all corners of the world.

I could not resist to make a legendary "Yogi shot"(TM) while approaching Frankfurt:

What a bright saturday afternoon we had - lucky us... Took a daylight pic of the hotel Bristol,
where a few of our guests had their rooms, also the later dinner on that evening was held there.

The Bristol is in cooperation with our main hotel "The Pure".

I parked my car near to the hotel and took a nice walk downtown.
The famous "Alte Oper" - the opera building, a hot spot in Frankfurt:

Right next to it the "Fressgass" - a long shopping and restaurant mile - is starting
where I was about to meet some of our members...

And there you go: J-F, our mate from France. Finally "real face to face".
Good to have you aboard, thanks for joining our meeting!

Well, after a long night some of us needed liters of coffee and food.
Here our flipper Patrick was doing a "big bite" performance That gold thing is looking good on your wrist BTW!
The question is just: will you keep it or flip it? Hahaha!

Our next point in the programme was a visit at one of the ADs in Frankfurt.
Jewellery Rüschenbeck was hosting a Panerai exhibition, which was set up on
that weekend we had our P-DAY in town. Soon the basement room was filled up
with our "posse"

Black beauties:

...more erm... "beauties"

Surely a future star in collectors' scene: the ceramic chrono!

Martin, Asi and Markus were blocking the Ferrari displays

...while another star was placed at the opposite corner of the room: "platinum whirlwind":

Mr. Kajehamid, manager of the Jewellery store (right) next to Mr. Wanka, editor in chief of the german watch magazine "Uhren-Magazin" with his daughter.

The sun was not down yet but it was time for Champagne! Chippy, Frank and Gary - cheers, mates!

...more champagne:

...and more watches - the new Regatta chrono:

German Panerai collectors lined up:

Daniel, Torsten and Esther:

Did I mention that ESPN was in the house too? BTW: great shirt, Martin!!!

Mr. Geller from Panerai / Richemont Northern Europe took over the "official part" and welcomed our group. Thanks to Panerai for setting up this at the local dealer!

A strap queen and a strap king - her RH Simona and his RH Aurelio!

Aurelio, Gary and Kanellos next to the new chrono models:

(to be continued... one more will come soon!)

Cheers,
Volker
