ok heres the deal. I have my 1978 Green Honda Express. It is almost perfectly clean. The only problems im having is this. How do u tune the carb? I can start it up in 2 pushes down. Runs perfect, absolutley no bogging or stalls yet. But when i come to a complete stop my idle seems to be off. It idles find then 10 secs. go by and then it rises then falls to a stall. Othere then that it runs PERFECT!

know for my othere question:

Is it ok to run Klotz full-sythentic in the oil tank?

Is it all right to run the higest octane gas available at my gas station in conjunction with the high performance klotz oil?

I use castrol 10w40 oil in tran. Is this good enough? Anything better?

Also how much should i add after draiing the oil?

also fyi, NC50 motor, 1978, 1010 miles.

As of right now as im gathering money. Iam not running a headlight (burt out) and the high beam light and speedmeter have a new light, but are taken out until i get the headlamp so nothing blow. Also on the wiring the green connector pods. two of them. Does it matter what green wire from what goes in eaither of them? do they lead to the same thing? LAST question, my battery os brand new with battery acid. I put it on a charger for about 5mins on 12volt selection then switching it on 6v direction. Does it matter what selction i pick when charging? it seemed to charge faster on 12v. The horn sounded good, but after about 2 days the hron has a low annoying beep beep noise. It does increase loudness as i hold it and accletate. Will i have to re charge the bat? HOW LONG FOR?

THANKS!

thanks!

On the side of the carb is two screws used for adjusting the idle mix. Dont go messing with these until you're quite sure of what you're doing.
The proper method for setting them has been mentioned before.
Also, I would suggest giving the carb a good cleaning before adjuting it if you havent already, since the Express carb is Very sensative to the slightest dirt inside.

You can run as high of a gas octane as you feel like, but the Express doesnt require anything above the base level. You shouldnt get anything in the way of performance increase from it, except maybe from some of the additives cleaning out gunk that can be otherwise manually removed.

Full synthetic two stroke oil should be fine.

The Transmission is ment to take 0.79 quart of non-synthetic SAE-30 engine oil after an oil change. For most this means a hair beneath the fill plug line.
Synthetic oils have been known to cause performance issues with the Express, and there's some debate over whether the Express transmission runs in the proper temp range for the multigrade oils.

Do Not Charge a 6 Volt Battery With a 12 Volt Charger!
Set it to 6v only, and wait the extra time unless you'd like to buy a new battery every few weeks. A tiny 6v battery charger is safe to plug in and leave plugged in overnight on the Express's battery. After that it should stay charged so long as you ride the bike regularly.
Dont forget to remove the little fluid filler caps before you charge it, and add a tiny bit of distilled water if the fluid level is beneath the lines marked on the side.

The carb has two screws on the side. The top one is the idle screw (IN higher idle OUT lower idle) The one below it is the air/fuel mixture screw BE CAREFUL! if u really have to adjust the mixture do so but, be extremely careful when doing it, I had a bad running ped for about 2-3 weeks before I got the mixture right (in richer [more fuel] out leaner [more air]) Honda suggests 2 1/8 turns out from being seated but 1 1/4 works best for most expresses. That info is on this site. The horn can be found on e-bay. U can get some killer deals on e-bay i got a $80.00 cylendar head for $9.99!

Happy Hunting,
Good Luck

Chris.
