NC50 battery

Hi all, I recently acquired 2 ea 1969 PC50's and a 1979 Express. Will the Express run without the battery? I have to fix the starting mech first. It seem's to be winding the spring but it is not holding. I will take it apart first. Also the carberator is missing the neddle and slide. I have an extra PC50 one that Is the same bore. Does anyone know if it will work?

Can't wait to get these bikes running! I have piston rings and gaskets on order for the PC50's.

the express will run with out the battery

and it WILL BURN out all the light bulbs, including the exspensive headlight

the battery IS the voltage regulator, the battery must be installed and good

or you must remove/disconnect all the lamps/bulbs , which will get you a ticket from the local police

if the starter is spring is NOT holding/latching and winding up, the relaeas lever is out of adjustment

quick test is too loosen the adjustment nut for the rear brake, then check the travel of the 'starter release lever' which is located on top of the transmission near the carb..

you can adjust the position of the lever with the 2 nuts holding it on the rear brake cable
