Would a North American Club Crew Championship work?

The Europeans have European Club Crew Championships - would a North American equivalent work? I'm guessing the countries still need National races to determine CCWC berths, so we would still have Nationals and this NACCC. Just throwing out ideas.. would it work? Why or why not?

both countries are so big. comp crews have to travel to compete at nationals to get a ccwc berth, so itd be tough convincing them to fly out again to compete at a north american club crews, especially with nothing to gain except bragging rights

NACCC's have been happening since 2003. Once Brazil and Trinidad joined the IDBF the event switched to Pan Am Club Crew Championships as per Tampa last summer but it only took place in small boats. Since there is no Pan American Dragon Boat Federation up and running yet the IDBF has an advisory committee looking at the possibility of hosting again in 2013.

The Pan Am Club Crews were VERY poorly attended in Tampa last year. It's a nice idea but nobody seems to care.

Because they're in 10 man boats and right before Worlds. Why would anyone think that is a good idea. Do it on the year World's aren't scheduled

"Do it on the year World's aren't scheduled"

Then you would be directly competing with the World Club Crew Championships. If I am with a top crew in 2014 I am going to Italy to race. Forget this Pan Am farce.

Actually there was a previous NACCC held concurrently with Worlds in 2001 in Philadelphia. The top crew from Canada at that competition was a top crew at the time, Stratford's Hunter Steel Dragons of Steel. I believe they swept the podium (correct me if I'm wrong) with times in the sub-2:00s on the current of river in Philly where races were held.
