This year was probably the first year in a long time that the ringers did not happen for the finals.  DZP, Dreadnought and Firetruck all going to Hungary so were racing their true crews.   CIBC and Lat 48 did their usual throw together/buddies/merge for gender races.  Teams were watched for just that this year because there were so many complaints from last year.  Concord had some really good racing this year and more depth than we have seen in a while.  However;  with all of the F##%%%%ng construction, Paddler's Village may end up inside BC place next year.

Firetruck isn't going to Hungary. Depending how you define "ringers", there were paddlers in DZP who were asked to paddle for them just for Concord/Hungary. Firetruck (UBC) and Dreadnought never had any "ringers" to begin with for the past seasons - the way it should be. There are also rumours about Racer's Village moving closer to the docks for 2019 Concord? (i'm not too sure though)

Concord this year definitely had great races! The level of competition was fierce. A great 30th anniversary of the festival!

Just rumours.  With all of the construction,  there is no place closer to the docks unless they block of part of Quebec and Terminal or commandeer the parking lot's by Science World.   Allot of our visiting friends said they really enjoyed the festival.  Probably the best run of al the years I have been there.

DZP have one paddler from Edmonton and two from Victoria for CCWC this year. At least they didn't try to cheat like what they did last year, recruiting a few OC paddlers from the State just for Concord, benching their own guys who worked hard all year and only winning it by less than hundredth of a second. This team is a disgrace to the competitive community.
