I agree and I think it actually needs to be 5 of the top 20 so it is even more unlikely.

Quote:

In order to not allow a team to travel to Timbuktu and pound on weak local teams for ranking points, a regatta qualifies for inclusion in these rankings if at least five teams participating in the regatta have top 20 placements in at least one other event (based on a rolling year).

Any Ontario Regatta with at least 5 of the top 20 teams participating is included. The only qustion is which list they use?

I thought this event was to be the replacement event for the Mid-Autumn festival that was supposed to occur at Ontario place?

Well anyway, we're (Canada Life Imperial Dragons)going and I've been hearing whispers that Madawaska may make an appearance. So that's 2 right there.

Doesn't really matter anyway. Its all about the fun, not the rankings.

demon - you just quoted that "at least five teams participating in the regatta have top 20 placements in at least one other event."

i don't really know how to put it another way, but if say Sing Tao, Big Fish, Angus, mbanx and Motorola all finished in the top 20 at TIDBRF and all five decided to go to London, then voila! London counts.

there is *nothing* in that sentence that states you have to be in the top 20 in the rankings - straight, power, or otherwise. and we already went over this when we were discussing welland. and to mr. zap, i don't know why you're still insisting that welland wasn't included because there were only four teams when it was already pointed out that there were six (i mentioned the five, plus G&G which came in sixth at Pickering) teams that qualified and only eleven overall. sorry if i'm being blunt but it's really not all that convoluted...

If the webmaster does not include, then it does not count. I seem to get where the individual is coming from and you do not. If you want it included I suggest you quit wasting your time asking me why it is not and ask the webmaster to include it or explain why it wasn't. Maybe if you make a strong enough case they will include it. As for London, well on the first page it already says it is a qualifying regatta, and from talking to other teams there seems to be no indication that it will not qualify again. Kingston is probably in the same boat as Woodstock one team shy.

In reply to reid's question, the Kingston festival will be on September 8th. I believe it's organized by the Kingston rowing club and the Toronto Dragon Boat Club. My team(Paddlers Anonymous) will be participating in that event and will also be taking advantage of the two hours of free practice at Sunnyside.
