https://www.canoeicf.com/dragon-boat-wo ... ville-2018

This page suggests that the type of event is world championships. Given that it isn't, is the loophole that this is the ICF world championships, and not the dragon boat championships?

There are two dragon boat world championships among two competing federations: the IDBF world championships and the ICF world championships. Some countries send their best to ICF and others send their best to IDBF. This sort of thing happens in other sports too.

Hosting dragon boat "world championships" is simply a political need for ICF so they can claim to the IOC and the CAS, one day in mediation or arbitration, that they have been governing dragon boat at the international level of x number of years. It's just optics. Atlanta got sucked in to doing this bogus event. Did you read this article? It explains it somewhat.https://www.panamdragonboat.com/will-dr ... pic-games/

I though IDBF won the rights to be the actual world championships a while back.

So isn't the ICF world championships kind of like the Disneyland Festival calling it the Disney world championships? What's the difference?
