- For the most part, Odetta Coyote was happy with her life in Door. She had all of the booze she could drink, her job was fun and easy, and she didn't have to worry about the law coming after her or werewolf hunters trying to put her in the ground. Maylene was settled and seemed happy enough, and things were good. As long as her aunt was content, Odetta was content. There were only two things that she really hated about Door; the fact that her brothers were still back in the old world, and that she wasn't supposed to really leave the town premises. Detta was a wolf, dammit, and sometimes she needed to run.
Every week or so, the werewolf would sneak between the perimeter guards, her advanced senses notifying her of their relative locations. Some of the Red Collars knew her well and let her go even if they saw her - others would try to stop her and get her back in town. Apparently it was dangerous in the desert. Odetta wasn't afraid of the desert, especially at night. She was a werewolf, goddammit, and she wasn't about to be afraid of mutant lizards or pockets of radiation or anything else for that matter.
This particular night she had snuck out, her wolf body low to the ground as she made her way west. The nearest Red Collar had been Maela, who usually let her go anyway and figured if she was going to get killed it was her own damn fault. Detta had figured it was better just to sneak anyway, that way the weird little alien couldn't get in trouble if anyone found out. It wasn't that she really gave a damn about the alien's feelings so much as she didn't want to have to get into a fight with her. Maela was a mean little shit.
Once she was far enough away from the town to really let go, the shaggy chestnut colored werewolf broke out at a full run, her paws hitting dirt, claws digging into the ground. For a few moments, she felt pure, unadulterated joy. Then she smelled something... off. She smelled another wolf. The only wolves in town were herself, Maylene, and that new guy, Guy. So who... or what... was this?
