No bike yet, lookin for a good one that wont break my wallet. I am 54, disabled vet (I hate that word "disabled") and lookin for insights on whats a good cycle and gear. I got the spirit and the body still works (The good parts anyways!!)
I can afford to spend time as I have lots of that. Money is there but I aint rich by no means.
I am in essence on the learning curve. So teach me all you Obie Wans out there!
I just completed a east to west ride this summer. Both me and my riding partner are Vets, but a bit younger. We just got out a couple years ago.
Colorado guy had a lot of great info (http://bikeacrossamerica.org/index.htm), we had a route that was very similar to his, but headed east to west. I actually think east to west is the better way to go.
I've been working on a website that I hope is a good resource to those looking to bike across the country. You can check it out at: http://bikeacrossus.chipeta.net
Specifically I talk about why I like to east to west journey at: http://bikeacrossus.chipeta.net/content ... ss-country
I hope some of these resources are helpful!
