"Things happened,"Rufus said softly, distantly. "The Digital World has never been a completely safe and violent free place but... it didn't always used to be so dangerous." Hang ahead grunted, not having any memories of the Digital World before Cyrus; the day she had hatched from her egg, all she'd ever known was Cyrus's face and his kindness and his warmth. She had never been a truly wild Digimon and never had to face the dangers of the Digital World alone before; she'd always had Cyrus.
How long had he been a wild Digimon before coming to join she and Cyrus? It must have been a least a while. Subtly, she tilted her head back to listen to him talk to Connor; right now, he was all she had until they could find Cyrus once more. When they finally did, Hang wouldn't hesitate in forcing herself to Perfect level just to protect him.
Rufus continued, flicking an ear and choosing his words carefully. "I was born before this crazy hacker named Insomnia invaded the Digital World,"he said. "I hatched, not in the Primary Village, but in a small group of renegade Digimon that had set up camp in the Glacial Plains. They were mostly nomadic, canine Digimon that traversed the freezing cold Antarctica of the Digital World. And, like I said, the Digital World was never a very safe place. I had just evolved to Labramon when I got separated from them. Deciding to strike out on my own and see the world, so to speak, I traveled a while by myself."
He grinned, all fangs and wiggling tail. "It was pretty nice, actually,"he admitted. "There weren't any humans yet and most 'mons were okay with each other... You still had the occasional bad data but... Mostly, it was okay. And then this Insomnia person popped in and so did all these other humans. And these humans got partner Digimon whom, it seemed like, were much stronger. They had cards and back up... And suddenly, the bad Digi's outweighed the good..." He shrugged a bit.
"I don't blame humans so much,"he admitted. "It was the Digimon who got greedy... who got power hungry. And then Insomnia was destroyed... but she made this really weird wave... Things are really starting to fall apart."
Hang didn't say anything, her mind flashing to Lilithmon. Maybe the wave had deleted the bitch. "The Trailmon Station is coming up very soon,"she said. "I suggest you take it straight to the city. There you should be fairly safe and sound."
And just as he said that the station came into view. Hang and Rufus lead the boy there before smiling. "We'll let you go here,"Rufus said. "You should be fine on your own from here on out. Good luck and stay out of trouble from now on, alright?" He grinned and wagged his tail. Hang stood silently at his side and was the first to walk away. Rufus rushed to catch up, leaving Connor and Alpha behind to continue their adventures else where.
