There was a spring in Hikari's step as she approached one of the newest additions to the ever-growing city. A sleek laptop was tucked under her arm, carried instead of paper for taking notes on what she hoped to research. Normally her generation would use the internet for such things, but the Digital World didn't really seem to have such a thing. Perhaps it was because the world itself could be considered some bizarre personification of such a network.

Instead, the next place for such research would be a library. The Frost Knight had spoken of more esoteric libraries located elsewhere in the Digital World, even one in the graveyard, but Bow had quashed that idea.

Her topic? Earth. There could be something in one of the library's thousands of books that would give her a clue on how to get home. The Digital World had known of the real one for years, so there had to be something on the subject.

But if nothing else, it might be a little fun just to see what sort of things Digimon believed to be true about the human world. Perhaps that its moon was made of cheese? Or that its timeline had been traversed by an alien riding around in a phone booth? Or perhaps even that steering wheels required constant, excessive turning to keep the vehicle moving in a straight line?

For once, Hikari was out alone. Bow was working on 'something special', and the Frost Knight was uninterested in study. Bow had made her reluctance to see Hikari go out alone clear, but after Hikari promised to stay in the city the Alraumon had relented.

Strangely though, Hikari had caught several glimpses of rusty red and dusty white following her up the street as she made her way toward the library. Why would Rick be following me? she wondered, shaking her head slightly.

Shrugging, she paused in the street and looked up at the library itself. The building towered three stories over her, made mostly of brick but with a sloped roof. Large glass skylights sparkled along the roof line, and marble columns supported the roof overhang at the library's entrance. Up a flight of stairs stood a row of doors, made of fine wood and decorative glass. Flanking the doors were statues of twin Digimon, with scaly legs, squat, feathery bodies, and some kind of odd goggles on their faces.

Owlmon! thought Hikiari, smiling at the sight of them. So cute! Kinda fits too, they were the symbol of Athena, and she was a smart cookie.

There was a near deliberate stomping motion to the lanamon's step as she made her way down the side walk. Aqua usually moved, even walked in a flowing, graceful manner, smooth motions that defined her figure. Right now, she was stiff, pushy, and taking her frustration out on the solid ground below her. The frymon in her arms was mostly just happy that the girl wasn't venting on him. With a worried look on his fuzzy little face, Kayo wondered if he should say something. He really didn't get much time to decide.

"Of all the stupid! Honestly Kayo! I can not believe HIM!!"

Glaring her scarlet red eyes at the next place she'd stomp down on, Aqua continued to make her way down the street. She was literally steaming mad, condensing all the moister in the air around her into a thick dark swirling mist that trailed and dissipated behind them. As far as Kayo was concerned, the girl was completely incoherent, like most women when dealing with realationship problems.

The 'HIM' that she was referring to of course, was David, their human and her boyfriend, kinda. Apparently, he had done somthing to throw Aqua out of her normal, sunny pick nick at the lake outlook, into this cold raging stormy seascape mood. Kayo had been in another room with Dash at the time so he missed it. The frymon just rememberd hearing somthing drop from the kitchen of their apartment, then aqua yelling, then the girl, red in the face, grabbing him and storming out. Then they passed David, he was sighing, totally drenched from head to toe along with their kitchen.

"What was it that he did?"

Aqua stopped for walking and bit her lip. Apparently, the question had brought her back down a bit. "Well, nothing." the girl shook her head, her blue hair shifting ever so slightly. It was nothing that David had done, and not entirely anything he hadn't done either. It just frustrated her, and she lashed out at him. Honestly, she felt terrible about it. The cloud behind her faded away.

"It's just... I thought every thing would be ok once he went back to normal. It's like he doesn't like me anymore Kayo."

They frymon nodded, pretty much understanding what was going on. Ever since the world 'glitched out' as David explained it, their tamer had been cured of what ever was wrong with him. He wasn't all crazy and what not anymore, well, he was still sitting on his head, but at least he was on the rocker. He wasn't all personality shifty since then, but emotionally, he was blah. Even by Kayo's standards, David had become a bit flat emotionally. He could see why this would be hard on the girl.

"That is not something that you should worry about Aqua. David's feelings for you are not likely to change so easily. I am sure that he just needs time to cope with his new found normality. Perhaps, as his friends we should find a means to help him adjust."

Aqua blinked, she had been so impressed by the way Kayo said things lately. David hadn't been the only one to change after the recent events. Kayo with his formal sounding speech, sounding so off coming from a frymon, was right. Maybe, David hadn't completely healed yet. What ever had caused the problems in Davids mind was gone now, but it had left things in there that still needed to be fixed.

"And where do you think we'd find somthing like that?"

The girl asked optimistically, pretty much riding on kayo's words, any semblance of anger. "Well, are we not standing in front of a library?" aqua looked down at Kayo questioningly, before looking around to see that they were infact standing in front of a library. They werent the only ones either, there was a little girl, if she hadn't stopped walking, Aqua would have walked right into her. Aqua smiled to her, kind of embarrassed.

"Uh, sorry about that...I was just. Um... I don't suppose 'boy trouble' means anything to you yet huh?"

"It does, a little..." Hikari had overheard a little of the conversation. She'd thought the occasional boy was cute, but unfortunately most of the boys who had been interested in her really hadn't been interested in her, and were different mixes of awkward and creepy. Mostly though she just wasn't interested in that kind of thing. She was friends with boys but that was enough for her. Some of the other girls her age didn't feel the same of course, gossiping, coupling, going to dances...

A glance down at her d-ban provided her a brief analysis of the Frimon and Ranamon, the former clearly under-evolved for some reason but the latter rather pretty in an exotic kind of way. Hikari smiled back, swaying side to side, her skirt fluttering in the breeze.

"I was just coming to the library to do a little research," Hikari nodded her head toward the building. "I don't know how much I'll find on a means to get back to the human world, but I figured I had to try." Looking at these two Digimon however, it seemed more like they'd just stumbled by the place, rather than arriving at it intentionally.

"Home sick huh? David never really talked about going back."

Aqua gave the girl a sympathetic smile, knowing what it was like to miss someone. Kayo nodded, rocking his body slightly in Aqua's arms. It had been a long time since their tamer had been concerned about the human world. Even before he had began to lose his memories, after the events of the siege, David had decided to stay in the digital world. It wasn't that he had the choice to leave, he just, seemed to have accepted this world as his home.

"Looks like we're going to be looking for some answers to. I'm Aqua, and the fuzz ball is Kayo. You want to form a kick but team to look for stuff?"

The lanamon's smile turned bright as she took Kayo and set him on her head. Balancing the frymon between her ear fins, aqua put her arms to the side and bowed in a playful girly fashion. She liked bowing over hand shakes, felt more natural to her some how. Stand strait again, aqua adjusted the large black bag on he shoulder. Typical more of herself then most digimon of her type, Aqua was more comfortable dressed like a human girl then wearing the one piece bathing suit most of lanamon wore.

She wore a fitting bubblegum pink t-shirt with H2O spelt across the chest in squiggly blue letters, and a pair of blue board shorts with the hips cut out below the yellow trimmed waist line. They were normally meant to be provocative, but Aqua wore them so that her fins on her hips could stick out freely. It would seem as though they would make finding a good pair of jeans particularly difficult.

Seeing as she had the hight of a young teen age girl, and had the curves of a young women, all of Aqua's clothes were custom. They had purchased the clothes from the mall, and David had adjusted them to fit her properly. He'd gotten pretty good at it too, lots of practice modifying that utility belt styled vest he was always wearing. The bag was David's, it held, a lot. So much in fact, that a normal girl of her petit stature would have had a very hard time carrying it like a purse, David had reinforced the straps and seams to manage the weight. The point being that it had all kinds of practical stuff they could use to help the search, and that aqua had kinda taken it without asking.

"We can help look for stuff about the human world and you can help look for something that could help us!"

That this David had never shown interest in going back came as no particular surprise to Hikari, as none of the tamers she had met thus far had any either. The nicer ones were at least sympathetic to her plight, but she had remained alone in her quest. So it was with a smile that she greeted the idea of a little cooperative research.

"That sounds great!" she said happily, brushing a lock of violet hair back behind her ear. Her hair was starting to get in the way more and more now, as she hadn't really been able to cut it lately. She wondered if there were anything approximating barbers in the Digital World...

"Nice to meet you, Aqua and Kayo. I'm Hikari." She bowed, as was proper. It occurred to her that Aqua's choice in clothing was rather unusual. Most Digimon tended not to accessorize so extensively, and a lot of it looked like what an everyday human would wear.

"So... what exactly do you need help with?"

"Well, I'm not really sure how to put it, David is a really good guy, he's kind and he has a really strong will, which use to activate his Digisoul, and he had a glowing red eye, and, I mean, um..."

The lanamon blinked, she wasn't the best talker in team daybreak. David being charismatic, and well practiced in that he almost never shut up, Dash having polished his silver tongue during his years in the black market, and Kayo, well, any one can seem like they know what their talking about when they only say anything when they actually do. over her time with their tamer, Aqua had actually managed to be over her stutter, and shyness. She'd come far, but still...

"wait no, Ok, our tamer, David is a realy amazing guy, but he some how got a virus. I think they use to call it the SDI, but I can't remember what that stands for."

Aqua shrugged. She had heard about the SDI along time ago, back when it threatened the digital world. Back when she was with her first tamer Mikko. Kayo shrugged, kinda, he didn't really have shoulders.

"but, after the Digiworld went all screwy there, he doesn't have it any more. Which is good, but it did a number on his brain. He lost all of his memories of earth, and use to be all, A.D.Dish and multiple personality-y. And now he's all 'meh' and his eye is normal and he can't used his Digisoul anymore."

The lanamon was Sweatdropped. She really had no idea how to explain it. David had never actually told any of them about what he was going through, besides the memories. It frustrated her that he couldn't trust her, or any of them, to let them know what was going on. A simple 'hey baby girl, guess what? i'm slowly going insane, but no worryies Kay?' with a cocky smirk and a wink and....yeah,,, cause that would have worked out.

All she really knew about what had been going on with him was what she'd witnessed. Kayo poked his partner in the nose with his fuzzy tail, he'd take over here. "He is still adjusting to life with out the virus, and the damage it caused him. We hope to find a way to assist in his recovery. "

"He seem's to have been using his emotions as a crutch to make up for his unstable personality, and though his mental side has returned to normal, his emotional side 'burnt out' do to being over worked."

Kayo smiled, trying not to sound to 'heavy' as David would put it, all the while trying not to make his best friend sound like a mental patient. It was a difficult task to state the problems David had faced, as well as point out that he had some how managed to keep him self from being completely swallowed by the virus.

"David is an exceptionally strong tamer, a bit impulsive, but good. He adapted relatively well to life with the virus, but, it would be for the best if could help him keep his stability. He, had a habit of blowing things up if we let him wonder off."

"Scary..." Hikari fought a shiver at the thought of a virus being able to infect her. The way they talked about it, could it be a computer virus? Humans didn't come with anti-virus software, and they couldn't do a system restore either. No wonder it had knocked David off kilter.

Maybe that's how Insomnia made people into dark tamers? Giving them a virus... It didn't really matter anymore though, what with Insomnia paying the piper, kicking the bucket, biting dust, and pushing the occasional daisy here and there.

"Well, I suppose the sooner we start researching, the sooner we might find something, huh?" She flashed the duo a smile, and trotted up the stairs, skirt fluttering in the wind as she went.

With an effort, she pulled the door open. It was heavy, feeling like it weighed more than she did. As the door swung wide, cool air and the faint must of paper teased her face. It brought about a kind of nostalgic feeling, of things staying the same as much as they changed. How many times had she gone to the library to research a difficult problem?

"No doubt!"

Aqua Smiled, with Kayo on her head, fallowing hikari up the stares. She had never been to this library, and but back before she had met Mikko, she had spent a lot of her time in her family's library. This one would probably fit inside of the one she grew up visiting. Oddly enough, it was Kayo and Dash who did most of the reading in team Daybreak. Kayo being a sponge for knowledge, and Dash just liked to have some alone time to him self every once in awhile. David read to, but mostly to help Kayo with words that he didn't know, only ever having to tell him the same word once. But for recreation, David didn't read much, not any more.

She could remember him looking at a book, looking at a page long enough to flip it again and doing the same with the next page. Her tamer, still under the influence of the virus at the time, could read a full book cover to cover, in as many seconds as the book had pages. Needless to say they didn't keep him preoccupied for very long, so he grew out of reading all together. Kayo had a similar way of reading, normally using his compound eyes as kokabuterimon to take in an entire page of information at once, sorting it out once it was stored in his head. He said that it was efficient for learning, but, kinda kills a plot twist.

"so this is what it looks like in here..."

Aqua sighed, enjoying the brush of cool air through her bed head blue hair. It was all, 'wanting to be stormy out side' humid, and warm. The air inside this building was, cooler, and calm. It gave her a comfortable feeling. Kayo liked it too, feeling it gently against his soft fur. This was another reason that he had taken to using his intraining level more often, giant metal bugs didn't have much for sensation, his Cobalt digizoid shell was made for keeping him from feeling things. If someone tossed a pebble at kokabuterimon, he wouldn't notice unless it made a noise.

"Well... It's been... Ages since I've been in a library..."

"I spent a lot of time in the school library for projects and stuff," said Hikari, following the pair inside and allowing her roving eyes to slowly look around. Twin statues of a heavily robed Digimon stood on either side of the entrance, orbs clutched in their hands and their simple shoes standing upon open books. "And I checked out manga sometimes too."

A diversion like that could be fun. She had no way of knowing what if any kind of graphic novels they might have in a Digital World library, but perhaps it would make a nice way of rewarding herself if she found something of use.

Behind the front desk sat a snoozing Digimon, her gray hair pulled into a bun. Her skin seemed pale, her ears slanted and pointed. For some reason, her lips appeared to have been sewn shut. Her attire was simple but functional, and a broom leaned against the side of her chair.

"Um, excuse me ma'am?" Hikari asked, walking up to the desk. The old lady smacked her lips, but no one else passing by seemed to pay them any attention. "Ma'am? Could you please tell us if your library has a section on humans and um, Earth?"

Babamon gave a snuffling snore, but still appeared sleeping. "Uh..." Hikari wondered if there was a way to gently wake the sleeping Digimon, or if they could find the section themselves. Spotting a bell on the desk, Hikari reached for it.

"Back wall," mumbled Babamon, by all appearances still asleep. "On your left." She gave a loud snore and slouched forward. "You'll eat your parsnips and like them," she added, tone sharpening. "Or you'll be cleaning this house top to bottom, ALL NIGHT!" She snored again and went quiet.

"I used to spend a lot of time in our library when I was little..." aqua blinked, looking around the place, but, seeing a library more familiar in her thoughts. The one she remembered was... Huge compared to this one as could be expected from a library found in a palace, even one that just happened to be underwater. She had spent most of her time their playing with her sisters, and listening to them read her stories. She was to young then to really read them herself.

Aqua kinda, just blinked as the old babamon seemed to be reacting to little hikari's question. "I hope... I'm not like that when I'm old..." the lanamon thought to herself touching her lips after watching the older digimon somehow speak even though her mouth was sewn shut. She didn't even like wearing lip balm, and the thought of lip piercing gave her the chills, god forbid stitching them shut. A bit of a nervous chill ran down her spine as she wondered how much that would have hurt to have done.

"But... I like parsnips..."

Kayo's ears perked as he heard the librarian mention food. Of course aqua rolled her eyes, playfully poking the frymon. "You don't even know what a parsnip is dork. No one, likes parsnips." ((OOC: honestly has no clue what the heck a parsnip is ^~^;;;)) if Kayo could shrug, he would have. Aqua had a point, he just liked food, or well eating food. How could Kayo, mr remembers every thing he's ever seen or heard be such a meat head? if Aqua's memory was like that, she'd have a lot easier a time finding information on the SDI, seeing as she had been on of the digimon to have survived it during the peak of it influence. But even if she didn't know it then, the virus had been so much closer then she could have guessed.

"I'm, also kind of interested in humans returning to your world hikari. I, David isn't my first tamer you see. A long time ago, my tamer just disappeared, and I can't remember what happened." aqua sighed, admitting something to her self for the first time. "It, might have had something to do with the virus. He, had grey hair and a red eye just like David..."

((Parsnips look a fair amount like carrots but they're white. No idea what they taste like XD))

Hikari flinched slightly as Babamon admonished them to eat their vegetables, even though the senile-sounding rants were probably just the product of a dream she was having. She tried to keep up a balanced diet, so she did eat many kinds of vegetables, though parsnips were not a particular favorite. The Frost Knight had tried on several occasions to get Hikari to eat plant-grown meat in the Digital World, but the association remained and simply looking at it had a way of making her queasy. Even his insistence that it might help her body grow bigger and stronger didn't sway her.

Hikari lead the way toward the back of the library. "I don't know how much we might be able to find on it, honestly..." Hikari had tried to keep her hopes up, but it was difficult to do that when most others didn't have even an interest in going home. Was she really so weird, having a loving family and a home she wanted to go back to? "I keep thinking that if anyone found a way back, they wouldn't be here to tell anyone about it..." Her glum spirit and fading hope on the subject showed in her subdued tone.

"What was the first guy like?" Hikari's curiosity warmed her voice, and they passed row after row of shelves, each loaded with books. Just how much information was stored here?

They reached the back wall, and Hikari looked to the sides. "Left, she said." Hikari headed that way. A few Digimon milled about the library, including a few younger ones apparently just there to use the computers. As they neared the section on humans however, there didn't seem to be as many library goers.

In all honesty, Aqua's knowledge of food and vegetables came directly from David. Sure, she knew what she liked, but, they rarely had the under sea delicacies that she grew up with. Their tamer was a better cook then he was a fighter. Four square meals a day, provided that he didn't a pull a Houdini type move and disappear on them. David was big on eating healthy, and to stay in his shape he had to be, considering that he competed with digimon even at the dinner table. They ate, a lot of fruits and vegetables, eggs, fish, poultry, lean stuff, lots of nutrients. Though, some times David would screw his meal system for stuff like pizza, cheeseburgers, and poutine. Like Kayo, aqua had never heard parsnips. If David had never made them, then they couldn't have been all that good.

Aqua nodded, listening to the little girl as she lead the way. It must have been realy hard on her. "If David could remember his world... Would he want to go home to?" The lanamon wondered to her self. The tamer had told them many times, that they were the only friends, only family he knew about. the girl just figured that was why they were so important to their tamer, but if he could remember his family, wouldn't those people mean as much to him as her, dash, and Kayo?  Was that what happened to Mikko? Was he just given the choice between staying with her in the digital world, and going home? Aqua let her head down a bit, taking her left forearm in her hand as she walked behind Hikari.

"What, was he like?"

Aqua sighed, surprised that Hikari had asked, but she didn't show it. She didn't think about Mikko that much anymore, too busy worrying about David. She, couldnt realy remember much about Mikko, and a lot of what she could seemed to have just, melded into what she remembered about David. They realy were similar the two of them. Their looks, mostly. Mikko had an air of, strength about him, confidence and charisma, but it wasn't like David's at all. Mikko was, like a gang leader, as opposed to the way David was like a big brother. He was brave and strong, and smart, but he was also a jerk at times, he didn't care about anyone who wasn't a part of his life already.

"He, was, tough. Like he'd had a realy hard upbringing. He didnt realy care about anything in the world unless it impacted him directly. He wasn't perfect, but he was my tamer."

Kayo blinked, again, he was hearing things for the first time. None of them, ever realy spoke about their pasts. Team Daybreak was a family, they just, accepted each other regaurdles, their pasts were their own, but their future was to be shared between them. They all had their secrets, but, they all knew and accepted that. The frymon scratched his frill with his tail, using his shippo binta to harden the hair on his tail for a good scratch. Of all of them, Kayo was probably the least forth coming about his past, and, he saw no point in changing that. So long as they avoided the hive city, it wouldn't hurt any of them if they didn't know his past.

"There are a lot less books in this section... If there is anything that can help us, it will be easier to find."

"He sounds a little like my first partner." Hikari tugged the first book to catch her eye from its spot on the shelf. "He doesn't really use a name, just a title, the Frost Knight. He's from some kind of tribe that lives in the Glacial Plains. Hardy folk, I guess." Considering Hikari often felt cold even in mild springs and autumns, she couldn't imagine permanently calling such a cold place home. "He's a good fighter." Alas, Hikari couldn't say much else, and she didn't feel she should insult him when he wasn't around.

She turned the book over, examining the cover. Large, ornate letters spelled Aliens! Humans have already visited our world! She opened the book and read the dust jacket's summary.

Many Digimon believe that the human styling herself Insomnia was the first of her kind to visit our fair world. But was she? Recently uncovered archeological evidence and historical documents suggest that others predated Insomnia and the flood she brought. What did these humans do? How did they arrive? And did they lay the groundwork for Insomnia's invasion? Read more and find out!

"This makes humans sound like... the boogeyman or something. Like aliens that came and built Stonehenge or the Pyramids or something..." Hikari slowly shook her head, vaguely aware that Aqua and Kayo probably wouldn't understand a thing she just said. She put aside that book for now, figuring she could go back later. It might have something useful, but it would be like panning for gold, involving sorting out the prize from the junk.
