"Me too," Hikari hugged back and graced Venus with a smile before letting her depart. Beneath the scales, Hikari saw in her someone like a few she had known in school. A kind but isolated spirit, just needing someone to smile when they saw them, to know that their being mattered to someone. She looked at Alex and wanted to say something to him, remind him to treat Venus well, but her courage failed her as she gazed upon the man's massive muscular frame.
Bow waved farewell to Venus as well. She had a feeling that the little V-mon would be something quite spectacular once she got older. "Well," Bow said, turning to Hikari with a smile. "Wasn't that fun? I never would've expected to run into some friendly faces out here on the beach like this."
"Mm!" To Hikari, it had come as a very happy surprise. Any day that involved making friends instead of fighting battles was good in her book, and she was excited enough for the prospect of having a sewing buddy that she now wanted to have something ready to show off when Lilly arrived.
Once their guests had gone, Hikari stifled a yawn behind one hand. With the soft hum of the surf, and the gentle warmth of the sun, it felt like a really good time for a nap. Bow seemed to see her slumping, however. "Ah-ah," the Alraumon's voice was firm but kind. "You don't want to get sunburned falling asleep on the beach. That wouldn't feel very good, now would it?"
"A shame ye didn't think to bring an umbrella, eh?" Rick teased, still poking around the sand in an apparent search for treasure.
"Next time we will," Bow gave Hikari's shoulder a gentle squeeze. "If you're tired, we can head home. It's just a short ride back to the coast, after all, so we can come again another day."
Hikari looked at Bow, an uncertain look wavering in her eyes. The girl was reluctant to leave, fearing that something might get in the way of them coming back. I'm here now, I should enjoy it. But the warmth of Bow's smile melted away the fear and uncertainty, and Hikari knew that she could visit again before too much longer.
As the rest of the group packed up, the Frost Knight stared wistfully out to sea. He'd spent more time out on the oceans than on dry land for many months, and a part of him still found solid, stationary ground rather unsettling. He bounced heavily around, his going slow in the sand before Hikari scooped him up.
"Ready to go, Frost Knight?"
"Ready," rumbled the Shakomon after a moment, surprised that for once she had called him by his proper name.
