Hello. I am a 37 year old married woman. I have been Pagan for 16 years, but was born with the knowledge of Witch like abilities. For example, when I was a child and scared of monsters, instead of running to my Mom, I imagined a white light surrounding me. I remember when I was young enough that no one corrected me pretending to be a witch making potions in church. I was small enough to sit on the kneeler (we were Catholic) and the seat of the pew was the right height to be where a table would have been. And I knew if the church knew what I was doing they would pull me up by the arm and they would not like it. I didn't know the word for exorcism but I knew it wouldn't be good because I'd fight and scream and they would think it was bad. I've recently become interested in Demonology because my family has come into their psychic abilities because my sister was living in a house that had a demon. I think there was a murder there and whoever it was hid the body in the basement because it had a piece of cement missing about 6' by 3' in one corner. It hissed, it scared the cat away, it made my sister's dog depressed, and it said in her ear, "I'm going to take them away." I want to get rid of it, if I can. I asked for it's name and three times, months apart I got the name Vashda. Yes, like the Vashda Nerada of Doctor Who. But the name given was only Vashda. I can't find it in any of my Demonology books. Can anyone help me with this? Is this one of the Legion that Baal or Vassago would command? So would me not being afraid of it make it give me its name? Thanks in advance for any help.

Greetings and hello.

This is not a name that I am familiar with, but there are many. I don't think anyone could know them all.

I can tell you that it is very common for the demonic to lie about the name. Often, using the name of a greater demon, perhaps a "boss" or "general", to make them seem more important/powerful than they really are. There can be many demons indwelling or oppressing someone, using one name, whomever the "shot caller" is.

It is not common for a demon to readily give up there true name. They tend to keep it a closely guarded secret because having their name helps to have power over them. (Power to exercise, one would never have the real power to comand demons. Only perceived power while they gain/build trust to lure a person in)

A human entity may also present itself as demonic in order to convince the living that it is powerful.

Welcome to the forum here Jananekare! Cullen gave some good advice, especially about spirit being extremely reluctant to reveal their true names, and about the knowledge of their names representing power over them. Good luck in your search, and I hope you will continue to share more about your experiences. What does the name Jananekare actually mean?

Knowing the names of demons is very much in the realm of speculation. Granted there are numerous sources/texts that claim to provide names of demons out there. While some names might be listed in some religious texts out there, the number of demons far exceeds any names provided in those texts. Even if you were to communicate with demons and acquire names, the reality remains that the only name you receive from them is the name that it or they happen to give. Whether or not that name is true or not... remains hidden. They, of course, would love for you to spend a great deal of time and energy trying to figure it out. It's rather hard to trust anything an entity states when it is in the nature of that entity to be deceptive. You have to deal with 'motive' and 'nature of being' when it comes to demons. Whether you consider them to be good, evil, or neutral (as I don't know exactly what your beliefs are as you state you are a pagan) the reality is that you only know what they are willing to tell you or show you. Even then, how trustworthy that information is... remains unsearchable.

Not being afraid of a demon isn't going to compel it to do anything. Demons aren't concerned about how you feel. If they can cause you to be afraid, they revel in that, sure. But, if you aren't afraid of them, that isn't going to cause them to shake in their boots in the least bit. Realistically speaking, what on earth is a mortal physical being of limited strength and ability going to do to a being that is incorporeal, doesn't die, and has the ability to throw heavy objects at you? They've been around the block for centuries, they're smart, they're experts in human nature and psychology, and they know how to manipulate people on account of that. Not to mention the fact that you have to consider what motivates a demon. Again, because of your faith background, you may have a nuanced belief structure regarding these beings concerning their nature and conduct. In many cultures, demonic entities are viewed as destructive and evil in nature.

As an aside... while it isn't uncommon to hear that having the name of the demon grants you some form of 'power' over them... in my experience, finding out the name of a demon is unnecessary when it comes to 'exorcising' them. Others may disagree. YMMV.

Best of luck to you in resolving this situation.
