Falling was an experience comparable to no other feeling. The ecstasy it brought as the body becomes weightless, floating in air at high speeds; the realization of truth upon crashing to the ground; getting back up to find a new world waiting for you…it was all worth the pain. When an angel falls, the world is engulfed in darkness as all the light is ripped from the soul, leaving an empty hole waiting, yearning to be filled. Krystal fell a long time ago, to the point where she changed her name to fit her new life. She wandered aimlessly, searching for something she could not grasp. Time was the enemy, although she knew not why; frozen, she could not move forward, nor could she go back to erase her sins. After accepting her true path she joined the Covenant of Sins, a place where she felt at home…but still hollow inside.

She thought Rex de Douglas would be able to fill that hole, but their love could not hinder the urge to find something, someone worth believing in. Lego’s light could not reach her, she was forsaken of her Mother, too tainted to trust in her ever again. She would remain fallen, but still required a deity to love and honor. She was useless without someone to worship, having been so accustomed to the rituals of Divinity and unable to let them go. She thought maybe she would never find what was lost…until she heard about The Wolfsbane.

Word of The Cult of Bane and Ma’luum whispered through the halls of Sinner Manor, and Krysis the Fallen couldn’t resist. She went in search of the famed torture camp, following the cries of those related to the victims and the tales of gnolls capturing random (at least to the onlookers) villagers. She wasn’t sure what exactly she would find, only that she needed to search. Maybe it was the whole “journey” thing she wanted, or maybe she was simply bored. She heard Lady Darkness mention Ma’luum once or twice, and she was drawn to the idea. Things were dull at Sinner Manor, so she decided to take a chance. Rex was unsure if she would fulfill her quest, but didn’t ask her to stay just so they could be together. Their relationship was flexible, devoid of the fluff and mush-push of other couples who made rivers out of their tears when one lover was gone for more than two hours.

After a week-long trek, she finally ventured into Kimona, where the camp was said to be held. Her wings dragged upon the ground, tattered and decaying, but they lifted slightly when she realized she was getting close. She felt an odd sense of excitement as she got nearer, but knew better than to trust this hope. Once she got there, what would she do or say? What would it signify? She didn’t know just yet, only that this path lead somewhere…and she was going to find out.

((How's that? Let me know if I need to change anything before we proceed.))

Eight hundred to a thousand people were crammed into the superimposed compartments of each barracks. Unable to stretch out completely, they slept there both lengthwise and crosswise, with one man's feet on another's head, neck, or chest. Stripped of all dignity, they pushed and shoved and bit and kicked each other in an effort to get a few more inches' space on which to sleep a little more comfortably, for they did not have long to sleep. They were woken up at 3am as gnoll guards, armed with rubber clubs, drove the prisoners from their 'beds'. The prisoners were ordered to line up outside in rows of five. Then began the most inhumane part of roll call, during which the guards and barracks leader swung at the prisoners with closed fists, arranged and rearranged them without a reasonable explanation, and invented reasons to do such things as order the entire barracks to remain squatting for an hour, their hands raised above their heads, their legs trembling with fatigue and cold. Such a sport would last for several hours until 7am, when the Officers and one Commander arrived. One of the officers was carrying a clipboard.

The Angelsbane strode in calmly, her head held high and her hands folded neatly behind her back. Her wings were folded, but the left rose to tilt her cap slightly. The officers re-inspected and re-counted the ranks, inscribed the numbers in their notebooks, and if there were any dead in the barracks (there were generally five or six a day, sometimes as many as ten), they too had to be present for the inspection. And not only present in name, but physically present, standing, stark naked, supported by two living prisoners until the muster was over. For, living or dead, the prescribed number of prisoners had to be present and accounted for. During rollcall, one of the men shuddered as the angel passed him and when she called his name, began to cry. He was starving and filthy, reeking of urine and sweat. And so very tired. He was one of the relatively new prisoners that came in at the end of Tunare last year and hadn't made many friends. But that was not her problem.

He was full of weakness. Before he would mutter a vocal 'please', the angel drew her bane pistol and released the safety, pointing it at the crown of his head without looking up from her clipboard. "Gute Nacht," She said, squeezing the trigger. The bullet hit its mark. Flecks of crimson splayed upon her uniform as his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell, limp and lifeless to the floor after a final twitch of life escaped his body. She returned her gun to its shealth. The Angelsbane counted eight, now nine dead, but the rest were accounted for. Most of them ill and very well near death, but still present and that was all that mattered. Handing the clipboard to one of the Officers, the angel brushed a fleck of blood from her shoulder and tucked a strand of white hair behind her ear. "Get to work." She said flatly, folding her hands behind her back once more. And then, as calmly and as soon as they had entered, the trio departed.

Krysis the Fallen dug her staff into the ground as she walked. Her search was almost over, but whether it would lead to the ending or another beginning was unclear. Something was pulling her, though, so she followed the small string tied around her heart until the stench of depravity wafted up to her nostrils. Her ears absorbed the noise of mirthless laughter and ignored cries for mercy, she could taste the salt of tears and humiliation on her tongue, and her body hummed with violence.

She was here.

Ma’luum looked quite different from how she thought, the layout stretching across a large amount of land that she wondered how people didn’t always stumble across it. Hard to keep something this large a secret. Now that she found it, she wasn’t sure how to proceed. She didn’t even know why she was here. Narrowing her eyes, she observed the activities of what she assumed to be prisoners and guards from the hill she stood upon.

The prisoners wore overalls, although each one had different markings, such as colored badges. They all had what appeared to be handcuffs clamped around their wrists, and most poured into caves, coming out with barrels of minerals. Guards were placed all over the large encampment, wearing similar uniforms to distinguish themselves from the prisoners. They had an altogether different appearance from the prisoners, and not just due to dress. She saw a lot of beast-like guards, with brown-ish fur covering their large bodies. However, she also noticed other fallen angels like herself, as well as other races. The prisoners were of various races, mostly lesser breeds.

She decided to watch the camp for a day to determine its habits and schedule before going down herself—just so she would know what she was getting into. She cast a shield around her and set up camp, hoping to remain undetected from both the natives of Kimona and the camp below, at least until she gained enough intelligence to feel confident of her situation.

***
Durst surveyed the camp with an air of satisfaction. With the years came more prisoners, and with more prisoners came more torture. His time spent at Ma’luum only added to the most fulfilling years of his life—at least so far. New officers were pulled from the prisoners as well, so there were more competent workers by his side than the intolerable gnolls—although Durst could never see the others as better than himself due to their former prisoner status.

One such, a fallen angel famous for her slayer days, just finished with roll call. The day was just beginning, and he wondered what would happen to make things even more interesting around here.

He was interrupted in his thoughts when Mayami tugged on his cape. She always did that to get his attention. “Adalmar, wer ist das da oben?” Who is that up there? she asked.

He glared down at her but followed her pointing finger to see a figure surrounded by a dark force field, moving around atop the hill. He was able to make out wings and instantly grinned. “Das neueste Opfer der Ma'luum.” The latest victim of Ma’luum he replied.

He turned to the Angelsbane and indicated the spy, gathering a few gnolls with the intention to capture yet another foolish wanderer.

The Angelsbane followed Durst's indication and snickered. Another stupid angel come to die, or perhaps drawn to Wolfsbane's charm. He had a way with angels, mainly fallen angels, and he seemed to bring them in from all over Lore since he became a God. Whatever the reason may be, it was irrelevant to the Commander, but her hand instinctively glided towards Ryu's handle. Momentarily did she wonder which one of them would be the first to break and kill this one. Would it be Drucilla, who had a festering hatred for angels thanks to Intei, or would it be the Morder Commander herself, who slaughtered her former brethren as an act of vengeance against a Mother who either did not exist......or had forsaken the angels of this world. "Ich hol die Hosenträger.*" She said suddenly, tucking her wings in and turning away. The other officers parted ways with her to accompany the dracopyre. As they moved out for the capture, the Angelsbane withdrew to a nearby hall and took it to the nearest staff room where she collected two bracers.

Upon bringing in prisoners, they would normally get their bracers at the gates. But when it came to capture, the victim fought back and the braces would need to be slapped on during combat - should combat ensue. She took a gnoll with her and had it fetch a harpoon to catch the b!tch in the sky if she tried to get away. He attempted to hand it to her but she refused and had another gnoll grab a harpoon as well before grabbing two for herself. Flanked by the two bestial officers, the Commander led them outside to where Durst and his team would be (or had been) before engaging the angel. "Fangen.**" She said, tossing one of the harpoons to Durst before nodding towards the angel. Crimson eyes caught the dracopyre's own for a moment as she added, "Bring ihr lebend.***" The gnolls scoffed and scattered. Durst may have accompanied them but the Morder would stay back - where she would be unrecognizable through distance.

With her back turned to Ma’luum as she arranged a few items, she didn’t see the officers moving in to capture her. Honestly, she didn’t expect them to notice her presence. She wanted to remain unseen and unknown until she was ready to reveal herself to them, because going in without any information proved to be a bad idea in the past. However, when she turned around she noticed the purple-haired dracopyre she saw overseeing the prisoners earlier had disappeared—along with a contingent of those monstrosities. Sensing something was wrong, she slowly reached for her staff, looking around for signs of an ambush. Her wings tensed, ready to take flight if her shield didn’t hold up.

Durst caught the harpoon, twirled it to set it in the right direction (the tip pointing downward behind him, for easier transition into a throwing motion), and lead the gnolls up the hill quickly. They were quiet—well, he was quiet, while the gnolls tramped around and rustled the bushes as they passed. He cast a glare behind him and they attempted to move more smoothly, but still drew attention to their position. He knew to bring her in alive—the Wolfsbane would want to play with her a bit—so he didn’t care if the angel heard their arrival. She would be caught, as they all were. There was no escape.

When he crested the hill she was there, holding a wicked-looking staff in one hand, slightly crouched as if to spring.

He gestured for the gnolls to surround her and sauntered up to her shield.

“I did not come here to fight.” she said.

Durst replied to her in Lorian, “Good, your capture shall be easy, then. Come this way, angel.” he gestured with his hand, just outside her shield. His smirk made it clear he didn’t believe it would be this easy.

Krystal frowned. “I said I did not come here to fight, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be made into a prisoner willingly.” she spat, wielding her staff. “Black Shroud she called, aiming at Durst and letting forth a beam of darkness energy.

He closed his eyes and let the energy wash over him, letting out a sigh of relief as the power gave a boost to his already-dark abilities. “Danke.” he replied, then phased through her shield.

The gnolls waited, ready to pounce on her if she left the safety of her shield to get away from Durst. She saw them and decided to stand her ground, even though she had doubts of overpowering him. She created a fog that stayed within the perimeter of her dark shield, to eliminate visibility and hopefully thwart some of his magic. It didn’t seem to affect him much, however, because he kept coming toward her.

“I can smell you, angel, so this fog does no good.” Durst told her, stalking forward.

Using energy manipulation, she summoned lightning to strike him. He was too quick, however, and avoided the lightning. Appearing behind her, he grabbed hold of her wing with one clawed hand and used the pole of the harpoon to press against her throat with the other hand.

“Now lower your shield and come with us. There is no escape.” he hissed in her ear.

Not one to give up a fight, she expelled a heat wave from her body, creating electrical charge amidst the fog. He didn’t let go, however, instead tightening his embrace. With static sparking in the air, she directed all the electrical energy to him—she would be fine, able to conduct the electricity through her body.

He growled as the charges hit him, his werewolf nature suffering from the electric energy, but still refused to release her. With no option left, she gathered the moisture in the air to create a bubble of water, hoping to drown him.

He simply slashed through it, however, tearing her arm in the process. “I am done playing nice.” he growled. Teleporting all around her through the shadows, he broke the dark shield, allowing the gnolls to advance toward her. With the water dispelled, she could do little else than to spread her wings and jump. As she ascended, she focused energy on healing her arm.

She didn’t get very far, however, as Durst also jumped up to grab her by the ankle. He flung her down with his momentum, keeping a grasp around her foot as he dragged her toward the camp. The other gnolls grabbed the rest of her limbs as she shrieked, struggling.

Hmph. That was the only thing that broke the silence around her as she watched the onslaught from her momentary post. Granted this angel was outnumbered three to one, she held her own decent enough it seemed, but unfortunately for her, Durst was a step above - as to be expected of a Commander. From her combat abilities alone, she could see the future of this individual; she would be imprisoned and made to fall if she wasn't already, molded to house rage and hate before finally being raised as one of the Morder. But the lesser members of the Cult would have a little fun with her first. It would be a competition between the officers and commanders alike to see who could break this ones' will faster, who would bring her to her knees first. The Angelsbane folded her hands behind her back as they brought her in and trailed behind the Gnolls........while the building seemed to swallow them up. She closed the door behind them and gave a single flap of her wings.

"Halten sie noch*," she said, reaching over the thick furry arms of the beasties holding the angel to slap the braces on her wrists. That would be all it took. She remembered how they felt when the guards did the same to her, the first sensation being that of cold metal. Almost immediately after, she had felt the rapid depletion of her energy reserves as if they had been blocked somehow. Later on during her first night as a prisoner, she had tried to use a slayer ability to remove the damn thing but nothing had happened....like something was blocking her powers. Magic was inert. Sign abilities were too. It sucked. It sucked hardcore. This angel was about to learn about them the hard way. The Morder Commander tilted her hat slightly, casting the features of her face in shadow. "Zu meinem Büro. Sie muss abgefragt werden.**" She tilted her chin up, giving the angel a swift once over. It wasn't anyone she knew, as usual, which she supposed she was grateful for. On the way to her office, she tapped Durst on the shoulder. "Möchten Sie verhören oder willst du mich? Oder zusammen?***" she asked, opening the door. His answer would depend the next course of events.

The lighting was fair and the inside was that of a modern, clean office complete with a desk and a filing cabinet. It was the left side of the room that made it eerie, that made it apparent that this was a Cult members' room. The walls to the left were painted in purple, the color of royalty, and at its center crowned the insignia of the Cult of Bane. Weapons, including freshly ordered and just loaded bane pistols, as well as an array of torture devices perpetually stained with blood, along with bloody rags and dirty looking potion vials containing experimental drugs lined the counter below it......as though her office in and of itself was a sacrificial shrine to her Lord. Her own personal torture chamber.

She pulled out a chair and issued the gnolls to drop her in it and tie her to it while she calmly walked behind her desk and sat in her chair, leaning forth and resting her chin on her hands. If he wanted to handle it alone, she would call his name to begin his interrogation. If he wanted her to do it, or if he took the suggestion to do it together, she would offer a seemingly friendly smile and ever so politely, ask, "What brings you here?" And with that, it would be obvious that she did not recognize Krystal at all.

The Angelsbane chose to make her appearance known once Durst had a firm hold on the angel, and it was clear she would no longer struggle. As soon as the newest prisoner set her gray blue eyes on the Cult Commander, all fight left her. Durst wasn’t sure why she would give up at this particular moment, unless seeing another angel struck a chord within her. He examined her expression as she stared at Lolita, glancing between the two of them as the gnolls led her down the hall. His fellow commander did not show any emotion at seeing the captured angel, nor did her face register recognition. Durst shrugged it off for now—they’d discover this soul’s entire tortured past once they began interrogation.
***
She knew she was in trouble, knew she had come at the wrong time, once those claws wrapped around her ankle, dragging her back down to the earth. How ironic, the various ways she has fallen over the past years. Now she was literally being dragged down into to Hell, the hot breath steaming out of its maw covering her in impurity. She knew that telling them she came only to meet and observe would do no good. They declared her a prisoner and would treat her as such until she proved through her actions that she was capable of more than being a slave.

She knew Lady Darkness and her fellow prisoners would not come for her, even though Rex would be enraged once he found out. If he left to come rescue her, it would be endearing, but he would be treated just the same. She hoped he wouldn’t come.

But when she saw the woman before her, that face and those features, she stopped. In truth, she couldn’t move even to fight back. Metal bracelets were slapped on her wrists without resistance because she was too busy staring at her former friend, her childhood sibling in the house of the Arcsires. Seeing her face brought back the memories of days when she was sinless and pure, happy and untainted with reality’s lies. She saw flashbacks of playing around the house, running through the halls and seeing her second parents smiling down at them serenely, sitting in the garden and being surrounded by butterflies and flowers.

But that moment was gone, replaced by the brutal slaughter of two people she loved as her own birth parents, a destroyed and twisted mansion she once called home. After that day, nothing was the same, and she never saw her friend again.

Until now.

“Lo…Lolita.” She breathed when she couldn’t remain silent. She was sitting in front of her captor behind a desk, with the man who brought her down standing next to her with an oppressive aura.

***
When she addressed the angle by her name, her true name, Durst knew why her face showed so much surprise and disbelief when she was captured. This angel knew the commander, but it must have been a long time since they saw each other if the Angelsbane didn’t even recognize or remember who she was. Perhaps it was in the days when they were both pure angels and not fallen.

“Wir können zusammen verhören. Ich möchte mehr wissen.” We can interrogate her together. I want to know more. he told the Angelsbane with a grin as he ooked down at the angel.

A frown replaced her otherwise blank features. She didn't like being addressed by that name......Adding to her annoyance was the fact that the angel hadn't answered her question, coupled with a begrudging question crossing her mind: How does she know my name? She glanced at Durst and nodded, the friendly smile reappearing on her face as she repeated the question, followed up with a new one. "Where are you from?" She asked, tapping her fellow Commander on the arm to indicate that he could question her next as she mauled over all of the ways that this peasant could possibly know her real name.

((That's fine, gave plenty to reply to.))

It was apparent that her once-friend, once-sister Lolita Arcsire did not recognize nor remember her. With an ache in her chest, she tried to clear her mind of the ancient memories flitting underneath her eyelids every time she blinked. She had to pull herself out of the past in order to deal with the present, or else her future would be naught but danger, pain, and turmoil. Having been asked again why she was there, and now where she was from, she decided to give an answer.

“I heard…about this camp, about the Wolfsbane. I wanted to see…to see for myself what this place was.” she said with a shaky breath. Her injuries were not fatal, but they still gave cause for discomfort. Her magic was inhibited, so she couldn’t heal. She believed it had something to do with the metal cuffs which were slapped onto her wrists by…anyway, from what she saw earlier, this disabled prisoners from accessing their abilities.

“If it means anything, I came from Sinner Manor.” she whispered, knowing it would probably leave no impression on the two.

***
Durst scowled down at the fallen angel seated in front of him. She obviously knew the Angelsbane, but he still didn’t see how, since the Angelsbane did not acknowledge any familiarity. In fact, she looked confused as to why her original name as used. This hardly ever happened—finding a prisoner which brought confusion on their end. However, that was his fellow officer’s problem, not his.

“And pray tell, how did you hear of this place?” he asked. The Wolfsbane usually approached those he wanted to have as Officers in his Cult, and the prisoners did not know of Ma’luum until they were brought to the camp in shackles. If rumors were spreading, how long would it be until their operation was intruded upon by greedy, unworthy maggots? And worse—what if a group of fools tried to stop them and free their precious torture pets?
***
Krysis the Fallen, formerly known as Krystal Kana, simply shook her head at the dracopyre’s question. She only heard whispers from fellow sinners, and really it was The Wolfsbane she heard echoed and reverberated throughout the land. She assumed telling them she came from Sinner Manor would at least tell them where she heard of the camp.

She found her brow creasing at the angels' explanation and snickered. "What a fine idea that was." The AngelsBane scoffed with a slight touch of humor in her voice until "Sinner Manor" was mentioned. Before she became an Officer, she had heard of the Covenant of Sin. The Lord himself seemed to admire them or at least their leader for reasons she did not quite understand, though she had reasons to doubt it was really the work of the acclaimed Lady Darkness spoken of in legends from another world.........just like the Guardians did at one point before further investigation. Hmmmmmm. She beamed at Durst and shook her head, placing two fingers on his arm to indicate a 'pause'.

"You're referring to the Covenant of Sin, are you not?" She inquired, waiting for the reply she knew would come. Just as she thought. "That would make you one of "Lady Darkness's" acolytes, then. That explains how you know of us, but that does not explain how you found us. Do you know how many imperial guards have flown overhead and never once seen our grounds - regardless of how big they may be? How is it that you did what they could not?"
