Yeah? I'm sure that'll be the hullabaloo now.

I would tend to support the right of those who fund, organize, and do all the work to stage a private competition to set the parameters of who is an elligible contestant.

I'd say the inclusion of dudes is diametrically opposed to the goal of celebrating Canada's hot women. I think you could argue whether or not this is a good goal - but that's the goal nonetheless, and worrying about whether or not any of them are dudes is completely woodkill to the central fantasy of this event which is to choose the most lovely and talented young woman in Canada.

Again, you can decry pageants and not watch them - but putting transgender dudes in the mix kills it in my mind.

If the contest is about feminine beauty, then I say let the transgenders compete. It's not like they have a genitalia round is it?
