Is anyone here following development of this game? Anyone going to jump on board? Care to share any thoughts you have on the matter yea or nea?

I'm really trying to avoid getting geeked about this game. There have been lots of comments by people about how Blizzard has put profit before gameplay on their other games, how this game has taken too long to release, etc. etc... reasons that will make this game suffer. However, I cannot help myself. I'm fighting the urge to pre-purchase a copy.

Diablo 2 is probably my all time favorite game. Almost certainly it's the game that has sucked the most hours from my "real" life. Unless the game completely tanks, I know it's only a matter of time before I break down and give Blizzard my money. If people here are planning to buy Diablo 3, I'd like to party up with you.

I really liked Diablo 2 as well. I'm still on the fence.

To my understanding, it's being released for PC and Mac on May 15th. There has been some official murmers about releasing the game for playstation 3, but I haven't heard what became of that.

It's not that I don't like PC games, but I can't afford to upgrade my PC every time a new game comes out (do the kids still say "drops?").

Also, I'm not crazy about that style of game, the camera angle and everything. Format? Like God of War. I don't like that style.

Supposedly, if you can play Starcraft 2, your PC should have no problem with Diablo 3. I know what you mean about certain camera angles. I can't really get used to the floating 3rd person over-the-shoulder view. Games like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider are just uncomfortable for me to play due to the camera angle.

So who got it already and has beaten it? <img alt="happy.gif" src="/images/happy.gif" width="14" height="14">

These pics from the local release (Blizzard HQ is in town) are kind of entertaining.

I rushed out at lunch to buy it, half expecting to see the shelves picked clean. Luckily the Best Buy was nearly dead and I had almost no trouble buying a copy. My only problem was that I got stuck in line behind a (Bargain Hunter) guy buying a flat-screen TV with what appeared to be a stack of printouts and no less than three assorted purchasing cards. Buy the time he had finally finished saving his money, at least seven people had piled up in line behind me. God Bless America.

Currently, I am still at work, so I have yet to install. Though, I have been stalking the web forums in an attempt to glean some buyer feedback. Rumors I've heard state that the servers run fine once you get the game installed and any necessary updates.

I'll probably be installing in a couple of hours, though the wife has come down with both bronchitis and asthma, so time will be taken from playing in order to make kick-ass chicken soup.

Email me and I'll add you to my battle.net account, and we'll party up.
