The silver lining to all these deaths (Snuka, Steele, Koloff) is at least these men lived into their 70's and lived full lives. As far as wrestling is concerned, Koloff remained especially watchable in the ring, even in the late 80's/early 90's.

He played his role very well

Unlike someone like his "nephew" Nikita, I always believed Ivan was Russian when I started watching.

He lost clean to Tito Santana on the first show I ever went to, which was the Iron Sheik vs Backlund title change

He had been an upper mid career that year. Was gone soon after with national expansion in he WWF
And on to the NWA for maybe 5 years
