Shockwave made his way out of the kitchen and to the elevator so he could take it to the basement. But when the elevator doors opened, Dr. von Germeten was standing there waiting to exit with a folder in his hand which he handed to Shockwave. "Good to know you are here, Max. ... We got a message from across the void. Nilmervir is up for parole and, as everyone else who helped contain and arrest him is elsewhere on other duties, you're the only one who can speak at the hearing. However, I've selected a group to accompany you just in case something happens over there and Rocky is supposed to meet you near the gate too. Exabyte has already made the arrangements with Shift and they'll be here in less than one hour."

"I don't really need a group to go with me. It's just a hearing."

"Given what we know of Nilmervir, I'd want to be safe over sorry. Besides, at some point, they are going to be the ones making the trip so it is better they get a chance now on something small over something dimension shaking. Agreed?"

Shockwave nodded. "Understood. I'll be in the ready room." He made his way into the elevator and down to one of the lower levels with the folder in hand. For the next thirty or so minutes, the time was spent rereading a file he had contributed to for a mission report. Nilmervir was a grim reminder why some scientists' lack of ethics and allow themselves to become corrupted.

Early in the morning Connor got a phone call. The dark-haired male, showered and shaved and made a small suit case with both his uniform and an formal attire. He then grabbed it and meet the Academy director who knew that Connor would be absent for awhile.

Shift appeared a bit after Connor go a chance to eat some breakfast. Nodding to the almost always silent man, who teleported him to the organization HQ in New York. Once there he was given a few files to read and study. He was going to accompany one of the Alpha members into another planet or dimension. He knew Max from when he arrived the planet too. The giant has Connor nicknamed him, reminded him so much, personality wise, his native dimension friend, Piotr Rasputin.

Connor moved to the lower levels, where he should meet the others.

Bartolomeo was on a short working vacation. A conference on the east coast, a nice comfortable ride across America, some light reading on transdimensional shifting in non-sentient species on his lap top. And the fictional book by some popular author that he'd made it half way through before becoming hopelessly bored. Too many people, connections, sub stories, and clearly none would be resolved in this volume one of some five... six?

Then he got the call, made arrangements to be 'picked up' at the next stop. He gathered his belongings, leaving the fiction book behind and found shift around a corner.

After a quick trip with shift he was in the New York building.
There was one of the Crusader Instructors from the Academy. "Ah, Dr. Windsor, a pleasure to see you again." Columbo extended his hand. This was a switch, a full grown adult with academic honors instead of the younger men and women that comprised most of his team.

A nod toward "Max." said Bartolomeo. They had done a bit of training, He wished they could do more, mostly what PRIME had learned was that he had a long way to go in skill and experience.

(edited to correct Conner's standing and an assumption that Max and Barto had done a bit of training together)

After getting the message, Jenny stretched and yawn, slowly sliding out of bed after a short nap for the day. Excitedly, she rushed around the room packing everything she thought she'd need for this next trip. It had been weeks since Jen had gotten this much excitement. After an incident in Europe, she had been sent back to the Training Center because of some major injuries she received on a mission a while back. It had only been a week since the doctor at the facility finally gave her the go ahead to join back into the action again.

Quickly, she packed up everything she needed, and set it nicely next to her as she sat down on her bed to wait, her knee bouncing in anticipation. After five agonizing minutes, Shift finally appeared to take her to the New York Headquarters. Jenny hurriedly grabbed her belongings, and a couple of seconds later she arrived on the main level of the base. She glanced around the room, and curious since no one was around yet, she made a beeline for the next elevator and headed down to the lower levels.

Jen paused for a few seconds as she stepped out of the elevator to listen for any noise. Instantly, she heard voices down the hall, and quickly made her way towards them. As she entered the room, she saw the three men all greeting each other. Jen dropped her bags near the entrance of the room and walked towards them, cheerily, calling out. "Hey guys! How's it going?"

After the incident in Washington state, Celestia couldn't help but feel exhausted and worn out. It took a bit of time to recover, having been out in the woods soaking wet and hungry for two days straight - oh, and having a collar that gave an electrical shock if she tried using her abilities didn't help the situation any. But the organization responsible for her and Eve's abduction was just one more list of concerns to take care of in the west coast, but for now, she had a different matter to attend to: one over in the New York HQ, and they had asked her and Bartholomeo to come and lend a hand.

Having packed a bag with a few changes of clothes, the half-angel waited for Shift to pick her up, which frankly didn't take long. It took a while to get used to the near-instantaneous travel, but it wasn't bad, even though she could technically fly there, and after the 'trip' in Washington, she needed to stretch her wings. But a few things ran through her mind, like what was this all about? Why would they select her for this? The answers she would get once she arrived...or at least hopefully anyways.

Now heading toward the elevator that led to the lower levels, she took a few deep breaths, uncertain to what this was all for, or who else she would see aside from Bartholomeo there. "Hello everyone." Celestia spoke, noticing the group of people when she stepped out on the floor. "Someone clue me onto what is going on? Because I am feeling a little lost right now..."

"Good day Max!" The dark-haired doctor greeted the Giant. "How are you mate?" He asked with a genuine concern, as he extended his hand. Then a old face, that he hadn't seen in awhile also showed up and Connor smiled back at the greeting. "Dr Colombo! It is good to see you! Congratulations on your assignment as Los Angeles Bravo Leader." He said as he moved his open hand to shake Bartolomeo's one.

A few seconds after they were joined by two ladies. One after the other. "Good day ladies. How are you in this sunny day?" He said with a genuine smile. So it seemed that they were the ones chosen to accompany Max to the other dimension. Connor wondered if there would be more people joining them. The doctor raised his eyebrow to latest arrival words. Didn't she got the same informations that the others? That they were going to accompany Max to another dimension? "We are going to help our Giant friend here, not to be bored on his journey through the dimensions." Connor stated with a smirk.

Max gave hearty handshakes all around and in Jenny's case a very high five."Actually there will be more in the briefing, especially since this is the first time any of you have jumped dimensions like this." Max raised an eyebrow in Connor's direction. "It is good to see all of you. We are still waiting on one more and it is best if all of you are here for the briefing. Until then, go ahead and relax. With any luck, we'll be able to get started soon."

Max grabbed the last swig from a bottle of water, crushed it in his hand and chucked it at the trash. It bounced around the rim before landing on the floor. Ignoring it, he went on reading the last of the file in his hand. The empty water bottle seemed to float up off the floor and drop into the can without any help. Max did not seem surprised at all.

Erin had been spending some time in California with her mother and grandparents when a communication had come in asking her to provide backup to a Crusaders team. She had agreed, although not without some regrets. She loved studying in Zurich and being a member of the Crusaders but she also loved spending time with her family. “Jenny! Celestia!” she called, smiling brightly and waving to her friends. She hadn’t seen as much of Celestia since the other young woman transferred to America, but had liked her well enough. And Jenny was probably her closest friend.

"Okay, it looks like everyone is here." Max smiled at Erin's arrival. He gestured to the center of the briefing table and the chairs around it for everyone to take a seat. "About sixteen years ago, the Crusaders responded to a dimensional cry for help. In jumping the Void, we were tasked with taking down and eventually did assault an alien scientist known as Nilmervir. At the point we entered the story in that dimension, he had already massacred over two hundred people and was well on his way toward committing genocide. When we finally managed to subdue him, a trial was held and he was sentenced concurrently on his sentences for fifty years. Ronin spoke against it and said he should have served them consecutively which would have put him at a little over two centuries."

Max looked around the table to be certain everyone was following. "This is Nilmervir's first parole hearing. As the only person available from the group that subdued, I have to go there and speak. Dr. von Germeten wants a collection of others, meaning this group, to go along in case anything happens. You'll notice a lack of psionics in this group. This is because this place outlawed psionics after Nilmervir's use of them. He liked to mind control people to do horrific acts for him and he has been receiving regular injections keeping it muted within him." Turning a couple of pages in the folder in front of him, Max continued.

"However, this alien is a brilliant intellectual with an IQ we've been able to estimate in the three hundred to four hundred range. When we caught up to him, he had put himself through some scientific process that affected his species and was starting to mutate when he managed to subdue him. Undoubtedly, he has changed, probably for the worse, in the intervening years. Nilmervir's species is known as Aziknal and they are generally unpleasant as a species. Arrogance psionicists who believe they were destined to rule and their society tends to be very cutthroat. Dr. von Germeten said to think of them as being a society where Machiavelli is taught in preschool like it is the Bible. Any questions before I continue?" Max closed the folder and leaned against the wall.

"So we'll be going in without Psionics even though that's the skill this Nilmerveir has which is most different than us? Do we have anyone among us that has a strong resistance to mind control? I've not encountered it but know of no innate ability to resist on my part."

"What about taking Power Negation Bands, if not for Nilmerver, perhaps for each other in case we succumb?"

...

"Do we go in uniform and mask or street cloths"

The latest arrival of their group arrived and it was another young woman. It seemed she knew Jennifer and Celestia, and then it hit him. She was Beacon and also one of Diana former European team-mates, that was now a member of Bravo Australia. It was good to meet someone who was protecting his homeland, even if it was his homeland from this dimension.

As Max, explained them what they were going to do and why Dr. von Germeten, choose this team. He had noticed that none of the psionics most known of the organization wasn't present and when Max, explained why there wasn't none, Connor nodded his head in realization. He made a mental note that he would most probably have to be in his electrical form if some rogue or the Nilmerveir fellow would try to mental control them.

"I'm able to become a little bit more resistant to psionic abilities when I'm in living-electricity form, but is not that good of resistance." He replied to Bartolomeo question with blunt honesty, about who was able to resist direct psionic assaults. Connor agreed with the suggestion of taking with them negation bands in case they would fall prey of some psionic.

Prime next question was the same he was about to ask. He wanted to know if they were going in their Crusaders Uniform or in more casual attires.

Hearing a voice call her name, Celestia turned toward the source and grinned. "Erin! My goodness it has been a while. You are looking well!" Going over and giving her former teammate and fellow light-user a hug, Celestia added, "We really need to catch up; a lot has happened since we parted ways. And you in Austrailia now! That must be a welcome change of pace from the cold of Zurich!"

It wasn't that she didn't understand the task with which she was accompanying the others; it was the why she was chosen. Celestia had no knowledge of this beforehand, and didn't want to go to this other dimension without information...which the doctor was too willing to provide. Apparently an alien had enough psyonic power to control several people at once, and was on the verge of a complete genocide. The original Crusaders team had arrested him, and now was this alien being's first parole hearing. The being had been given injections to prevent him from using his powers, and the dimention's people had outlawed that specific power, which was why Diana or some of the other psychics wasn't present. Well, that would explain most everything. If I went as Seraph, I can have a stronger willpower than if I went normally. She thought to herself, glancing at the others.

Her fellow Los Angeles teammate Prime had asked if they were going as their true selves, or in their Crusader apparel. Celestia wondered about that as well, though it wouldn't be hard for her to change. And after what happened in Washington, Seraph needed some time out.

“It is,” Erin replied brightly to Celestia “Zurich is a lovely city, but I’m a California girl at heart and it was so cold!” She shivered theatrically before beaming again “Plus Sydney is by the ocean.” Another aspect of Erin’s personality as a ‘California girl’ was that as well as warm weather she loved swimming and diving.

When everyone was directed to sit down Erin did so quickly, a faint hint of colour appearing about her cheekbones. She was always a little sensitive about being one of the youngest of the Crusaders and tended to act as maturely and seriously as possible to compensate. Of course according to people who loved her like Jenny and her mother she had a tendency to over compensate.

Max settled into the briefing answering the questions as they cropped up. "I do intend for us to bring Power Negation bands with us and we will be traveling in our uniforms. It is the only way they know to identify us. They did say that the injections had worked and disrupted or eliminated his abilities at mind control." Max paused for a few moments before continuing. "As I had said, Milmervir is a scientist which is one of the reason both doctors are here in case their experience is needed if something does happen. Any other questions?"

"we've got a small ocean by Los Angeles Erin." He didn't make any offers, even in jest about coming to join the LA team. He didn't want to give any impressions that was a possibility, though if it was in his powers he would. They did have a pretty full team at the moment. Still... the idea... he'd send a message to personnel.

Max replied to them.

Prime donned his mask, took off his jacket. He was in uniform and ready to go.

"Ready when you are Crusaders." He said in the quasi-menacing fake metallic voice that was the 'voice of Prime'. He smiled under the mask, it did seem silly at times.
