Crooner Bing Crosby once revealed that he had been subjected to public feminization in school. He was required to play the part of a girl in a school play.  "I shall never forget my hot shame," he wrote, "at having to wear such a costume."  The adjective 'hot' seems to suggest it wasn't entirely a negative experience for him.

No, I'd guess that in the language of the time "hot" referred to the sensations accompanying a beet-red blush of embarrassment.
