Rarer than hens teeth, I thought this was a figment of my imagination, until recently. I have only seen one other, and it belonged to me.

I was either on psychotropic drugs as a child, or these really do exist.

Are you talking about the ICB-1050? Same chassis as the JWR M2.
Terrible rigs back in the day, not made by Icom incidentally and I've no idea why they put their name to them.

That's not my experience of them, you may well be right. They where very basic and they are definitely an oddity, which also makes them "to me" a rarity. Personally having owned one as a teenager they have a sentimental value. They where certainly better made than most of the basic radios you can buy now. To put it in context of my circumstances as a child growing up, I was more than happy to get it for Christmas. Back then expectations where smaller, for my family at least.

ICB1050 was my first CB ..I remember excitedly opening it up on Christmas Day 1981. Really well built radio for the time.. If I remember correctly the squelch control also acted as an RF Gain..
I even remember where my parents bought it..lol..The CB shop in Buxton
that radio lived with me and was well used over the next 15 years of so

Possibly the first CB27/81 radio that was converted to Ten FM.
