This is a somewhat decorticate species of the fresh to brackish water genus Corbicula.

As with some of your other unknowns, the lack of information on locality and habitat complicates the ID process.

Harry - Thanks again. I started out with a collection (box) of shells and no idea where they came from. This one was in the box. Based on what I've read about this genus it could have come from Indo-Pacific or my own beach here in North Carolina so, unless I turn up some new info along the way, I'm stopping with the genus ID. I'll be the first to admit I'm a novice at this, but after some more investigation I am asserting that this is Coricula fluminea- a non-native, fresh/brackish water species.

P.S. - Later I found several other specimens in a box of shells I know came from Indo-Pac. Many had varying degrees of purple coloration, inside and out.
