Without a doubt. I love this version with Willie and Susan Tedeschi. I have no idea what's up with the image for the video though.

"said, sure as the sunrise, baby, tomorrow I'll be up and on my way"

How many great songs have been written for that kind of moment? Sometimes I think all of them.

This one always makes me think of the Allmans & the Band. I can get down on these guys for all the ways they got so close and didn't get it quite right and then sometimes I get flashes of what I think they were trying to get to and really appreciate that they tried. This song is full of those little pieces. that build at the end? still gets me every time.

BTW- Happy Birthday Creek. It's a beautiful day in the Low Country.

Thanks buddy. I had some fried oyster/scallop/shrimp basket with rings and puppies and cole slaw out at the beach for lunch. I don't eat much fried seafood, but this was just what I wanted. Later I hope to be having hot tuna.
The Brothers and The Band came closer than anyone else, though. But since no one else has ever done what they did, there really is no comparison. One night at the Warehouse in new Orleans I witnessed The ABB get as close to perfect as is possible and The Band and Dylan in Atlanta was pure magic. I have only seen a few bad shows by the brothers and those were all in that late 70s = early 80s period when the heroin played the instruments. I can't remember a bad one by the Band, but i oonly saw them 7 or 8 times. i saw the Brothers over 50.

yeah, we don't really deep fry at home so a couple times of year it sounds really great when you're out to eat. I do the same thing. get a mixed platter and have a little shrimp, oysters, hushpuppies, fried fish. Along with the cheese grits and slaw I get about a third of the way through and start going into a food coma because my body can't process that much fried food at one sitting so everybody else picks at my plate. The slaw is the only thing that can keep that much fried food in balance for any length of time.

takes me 6 months before I start to really crave it again and I repeat the cycle. worth it every time.

Yeah, it's usually a planned excursion, like you, a couple of times a year. I only go a couple of different places. If the hushpuppies suck it ruins the meal and they do good pups. Most of the time around here anything to do with cornmeal is too sweet and these two go with the savory rather than the dessert version.

It's got everything a real country song should have in it, drugs, alcohol, turtles and aliens. We all can relate to that shit!

RIP Weiland.

I got to see him with STP a couple of times in the early 90's in SoCal and his voice was always on the radio during a great time in music and my life. They didn't get much credit with Nirvana and Pearl Jam getting so much attention at the time, but their sound, like Soundgarden & Alice in Chains was kind of like a rhythm section that helped fill out the sound of the time and made it more than just one or two bands and more like a movement.

This is probably still my favorite Slash riff and solo. Knowing it finally caught up with him, you look back at a guy who was describing the circus even as he lived it. Observations on a train ride through hell, if you will. If you spent some time in rock clubs in SoCal, it also captures a kind of polaroid of that feel that was just about as blurry and jangled as most people's memories of it. Most of all, it was a song that caught me by surprise because everyone had written him off as gone and done. It felt like a resurrection at the time, but I guess it was more like a another point on an arc that has finally reach it's end.

Core is such a good album, I played it constantly when it first came out. Still hear songs from it and they haven't faded.

There's a little 400 seat auditorium at UA that stays under the radar for most. I saw him the first time there in 1971, just him and the piano. Hooked me for life.
