Alabama Shakes receive signed jersey from Saban

Despite an hour-long break because of lightning, Alabama Shakes put on a thunderous show at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Thursday night. And the band, which originated in Athens, Ala., in 2009, received a gift from a prominent figure in Tuscaloosa during their visit for the show.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban presented Alabama Shakes with a signed hat and jersey, which is personalized with the name of the band in place of a player's last name and the No. 15. The group shared a photo via social media Friday

The Shakes, in their Instagram post and tweet, thanked the City of Tuscaloosa and Saban for a "thunderous" welcome home. During their Thursday-night performance, lead singer Brittany Howard repeatedly said Tuscaloosa was one of the band's first places to play its original music.

The group also told their social media followers to support the Nick's Kids Foundation, which has raised and donated nearly $5 million to various organizations and causes. The foundation is spearheaded by Saban and his wife, Terry.

This guy is getting some attention these days. A country music guy from from Los Angeles! I actually caught him, in studio, on Sirius one day. Didn't know he was an Angeleno until the end of the session. Trip out that his steel guitar guy is from Huntington beach.

Must be something in the water in Athens, AL, plus it is practically next door to Muscle Shoals, so the soul is in the air.

It seems to me that rock and roll hasn't progressed, maybe it is a lot worse than 40 years ago, but Americana is getting better all of the time. There's just so much different interpretation that it never gets old.

I know. It seems like everyday I'm hearing something else and I have to start digging around to find out more. Watkins Family Hour are very talented, she makes me feel funny too. But I heard the one song and dove in. Kind of trippy that Fionna Apple is hanging out with them.

Trippy? I read that Steve Tyler did a country show in NYC. I'm almost afraid to find some video.

Pardon me for being maudlin, but I was sitting in a coffee house downtown today and ran into an old friend that I hadn't seen since the early 80s. He used to be a good steel player who had recorded and toured with Gram Parsons at one time, as well as Emmylou and many others. He's been partially paralyzed since the mid 80s, but what a great attitude. We ended up sitting at a table outside, singing this at the top of our lungs,

The girl from the Carolina Chocolate Drops has a solo album out, produced by T Bone Burnett. It's goooood. This is a song she wrote after/about the Charleston Massacre.

Heard a couple of girls in their 20's sing this song over the weekend. I hadn't heard it before and the way they did it sounded like the stuff Michelle Branch did with the Wreckers in the harmonies.

Maybe it was the weather, the crowd, sitting in the sun on a lawn chair with my wife beside me, relaxing at the end of a pretty hectic weekend, but it was the best thing I had heard in a while...

The Dylan version it comes from makes you wish you were sitting in the room listening to him work it out...couple beers, couple tokes, a cute girl across the room that keeps catching you catch her eye...

Mrs. Dis and myself are celebrating our 26th anniversary today. We don't get all lovey and romantic about it, we just know we love each other. I'm a lucky man to have found her, she's the only girl that would put up with my shit. I've always liked this song, sort of fits how I felt felt when I first met her.

Congrats Dis. We just passed 19 this Summer. I hear and feel you.

Saw this song in the sidebar when I opened your song and ended up playing after. Always reminds me of breaking up with my HS sweetheart after college.

Like this song it's like a Rorschach test for your first heartbreak or your one true love. If you can't think of someone when you hear a song like this then I'm pretty sure you've never really been in love-

Without a doubt. I love this version with Willie and Susan Tedeschi. I have no idea what's up with the image for the video though.
