Alabama Shakes receive signed jersey from Saban
Despite an hour-long break because of lightning, Alabama Shakes put on a thunderous show at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on Thursday night. And the band, which originated in Athens, Ala., in 2009, received a gift from a prominent figure in Tuscaloosa during their visit for the show.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban presented Alabama Shakes with a signed hat and jersey, which is personalized with the name of the band in place of a player's last name and the No. 15. The group shared a photo via social media Friday
The Shakes, in their Instagram post and tweet, thanked the City of Tuscaloosa and Saban for a "thunderous" welcome home. During their Thursday-night performance, lead singer Brittany Howard repeatedly said Tuscaloosa was one of the band's first places to play its original music.
The group also told their social media followers to support the Nick's Kids Foundation, which has raised and donated nearly $5 million to various organizations and causes. The foundation is spearheaded by Saban and his wife, Terry.
Congrats Dis. We just passed 19 this Summer. I hear and feel you.disenter wrote:Mrs. Dis and myself are celebrating our 26th anniversary today. We don't get all lovey and romantic about it, we just know we love each other. I'm a lucky man to have found her, she's the only girl that would put up with my shit. I've always liked this song, sort of fits how I felt felt when I first met her.
