I got to wondering, with so much coming out about college basketball do we really believe college football is much better?   From Cam Newton's dad's church donation to Ole Miss paying players I seriously doubt we are much cleaner.   I am curious what you guys think.

BB is different because of the AAU minor league and the shoe contracts.  The first brings in the sleazy agents and gives them easy access to the recruits, and the second provides the money.

In CFB it's really just crazy boosters and an administration that doesn't have the guts to deal with them.  Take Cam for example.  It was booster money and booster run, but when the evidence started to mount there was no way the school was going to do a real internal investigation to root out the bad apples.

btw, I don't think Bama cheats very much.  Saban definitely doesn't put up with any of that crap.   It's the programs that can't keep up with him that are tempted to go the Ole Miss route.

I just realized that we haven't had that problem in the SEC East.  We've been such a mess the last 5 years that nobody bothers to cheat!  lol.

I do think that the NCAA will have to make some changes to CFB recruiting and the penalties because the 7 on 7 tournaments and recruiting combines are starting to look a lot like the AAU.  With BB the cat is out of the bag and it's going to be bloody, but in CFB they should be able to get out in front of it.  Plus, I think all the schools don't want to be in the FBI's crosshairs 10 years from now.

I feel bad for kids today.  I played football in school because I enjoyed it.   Now, if you show any talent at all, it becomes a full time job.   My nephew's football coach told them to tell their family not to plan a summer vacation because if you wanted to be on the team you had to show up every weekday of summer vacation to either workout or practice.  Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore.
