Do you guys think Chip kelly will be successful at UCLA

Probably one of the biggest hires of the year and I really have not heard a peep about it.  I was only reminded of it based on this story I just saw on CBSSports:  https://www.cbssports.com/college-footb ... -football/.

Kelly is the winningest coach of all time (%) after going 46-7 at Oregon so he is legit.  UCLA though just always seems a little cursed.  Some of the things he pioneered (hurry up offense, etc) are now old hat.  Can he bring something new to the table?
Being a Vol fan is great except for a few Saturdays in the fall.

I don't they turn into what USC was or what Alabama is, but they'll be better than they've been.

I think there is an institutional problem within the UCLA program.  There is no reason they suck like they do with all that talent.  It's not like they are GT or something.   They can get talent.  My guess is he knows what needs to be done and will be successful.  If the school overhauls the department I bet he competes for Nattys in a couple of years.  Otherwise he averages 10 wins.

I don't get the feeling he wants to grind like might be needed.

I think he is in a similar spot as Mark Richt.  With solid coaching and recruiting he can average 10 wins in that conference while spending plenty of time with the family.

UCLA's recruiting ranking the last few years:

2015: 13th
2016: 12th
2017: 21st
2018: 17th (not bad for a class he scraped together)

That's not a bad talent base.  Can he improve the recruiting?
