😂😂

I just discovered that the Druid City brewery in Tuscaloosa is famous for their chalk drawings and they all have to do with Bama.  Some are pretty good but this one caught my attention as it proves even Bama fans think Finebaum is Saban's bitch:

Might as well put this here.

Clemson comes out HOT and dictates the game from there.

A good defense lets you do that.  Once they get a lead Venables does his thing and they chalk up another W.

Clemson fans like to bash KB's ability to throw the ball but look at these stats in the First half of games (I put it on Hale's tweet so you may have seen it already)

KB's first year as starter
271 183 67.5 1952 10 3 138.01
Tajh Boyd's First Year as Starter
271 157 57.9 1778 14 5 126.40
Add in that KB had 469 yards and another 7 TDs to Tajh's 147 and 2, KB had 2421 total yards and 17 TDs to Tajh's 1925 and 16 TDs. Everyone wants to compare him to DW4 but that is unfair.

Clemson jumped on teams early and then coasted. KB only threw for 895 yards in the 2nd half because he didnt need to throw much

Time for my annual rant about defense.   Why do so many schools ignore it.  Clemson, as mentioned above, are champions now because of their defense.  Bama has remained consistently on top with mediocre qbs but amazing defenses.  UGA had a great rushing game for sure last season but that defense took them to the top game.  To me it just seems so obvious that to be a major player you need a top defense but schools in the Pac 12 and Big 12 just seem to miss that point.

defense is more about talent instead of x's and o's.  There is no spread or air raid to help a less talented team field a lethal defense.  Sure, coaching matters, but it can only do so much.

Tennessee for example doesn't have the talent right now,  Pruitt will scheme and coach as much as possible, but the Vols won't be able to shut many teams down like Bama does.

For sure.  My hope is Pruitt is able over the next few years to get the players he needs to make his defense work.

I really think he will.  Is the Volnation patient enough to let him do it?

I really think so.  This last coaching search was a disaster.  No one is eager to go through that again.

Jimmys and Joes make the Xs and Os a lot easier

Still have to have a scheme and recruit players to execute it. Wish I could find the old Gary Patterson article where he talks about each position on his defense has a check list he uses in recruiting. He knows exactly the body type, athleticism, speed etc he needs to maximize his defense. It was an interesting article
