I wonder where Meyer and Saban fit in this?  Has to be 95% for Saban.

Hopefully if he has 6 straight classes of top 5 recruits he doesn’t lose to a team that went 4-4 in the SoCon like Muschamp did

I wonder if the North Georgia recruiting is better than Florida recruiting at this point.  There is more blue chip recruits in Florida but in addition to FSU, Miami, UF, USF, UCF you also have the rest of the nation trying to recruit in Florida.  The North Georgia recruiting is great and you really only have UGA, UT and Clemson fighting over it.  GT is no real threat to anyone and it seems the rest of the nation kind of leaves it alone.  I can't recall a blue chip Atlanta kid going to the Big 10.

the Florida program reminds me so much of the Michigan program …. after they have fallen from the ranks of the elite … the powers to be , at Florida , have made too many bad choices and hiring the wrong coaches for the program … UF head coaches since Meyer : Muschamp, Durkin, McElwain, Shannon ,and Mullen …. UF is taking way too long to get back on top …. hopefully Mullen will turn out to be the right fit at Florida ….

Everyone recruits Atlanta hard.  Meyer still gets an elite kid out of the state almost every year for example.  Also, most kids in the Atlanta area aren't really from there and can easily be talked into another school.  It's not like it was 20+ years ago.

I think Florida has the most and best football talent in the country.  Fast city kids and big farm boys.

I know I've said this before, but it's hard to recruit the state of Georgia as poorly as Georgia Tech does.  It's a great academic school right in the heart of Atlanta, and Atlanta is the black history mecca and a hub of urban music.  There has to be a ton of 3 to 4 star kids who would love it there.

It is hard to imagine Paul Johnson having anything in common with a young black kid attracted to Atlanta for the reasons you stated.  He is a dinosaur.   I feel like Tech could become respectable if they really wanted to but it would require some serious investment.

hahaha that is amazing. I will tell you that I was told by a 7on7 coach in Georgia that one of the guys on his team got a back pack at one of the Georgia camps and underneath the t-shirt inside was cash. I know it happens at all schools but that's Ole Miss level stupid if true

Especially if the camp was on campus or put on by UGA.  I can see a booster slipping something in and one of the for profit camps, but there should be no access if it's a UGA camp.

It was hours after the story broke that ESPN started talking about Meyer.  Definitely not a good look for them.

Curious why Clemson only scored 6 points against Bama and why Trevor Lawrence will be the starting QB by the end of the season?  Here is your answer....

College athletic's lack of a backbone was exposed when Miami got a slap on the wrist and UNC stayed accredited.  Too much money at stake.

They just jumped up on teams early. He threw the ball well Saturday. Dabo said he is much improved to the QB they saw last year

I wonder how KB had such bad stats on passes over 20 yards (in the air) but managed a good passer rating.  I guess there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

He definitely could improve in that area and I’m being told he has.

Now I’ll also say not having a Nuk/Mike Williams on the outside hurt him. Many balls they catch, Cain didn’t. Clemson didn’t have that 50/50 guy last year. The passing game looked a lot different when they started using Higgins in the slot. He was not strong enough to play outside last year but is up to 210 now. He and Ross give that big physical presence and that should help whoever is the QB

Lots of good thrown balls last year that Cain just didn’t catch. He needed to be in slot but had to play the 9 put if necessity

It's rare that a college QB can fix their deep ball, but excellent WR play can negate any problems.

fwiw, I think Lawrence has an excellent deep ball.  It's tough to tell from film, but I remember people that saw him play liked those throws.

That’s the thing, KB can throw the deep ball. A lot of those incompletions should have been catches. Larry Williams actually did a film breakdown discussing this last season. Some were on him but not all.

That said Lawrence is an elite vertical arm talent. From someone at scrimmage Saturday.

exhibit A ... "On his first drive he eluded pressure in the pocket (avoiding the touch sack) and threw 40 yards to Overton off his back foot. Lawrence continues to be the best QB on the run and (surprisingly) at continuing plays. His movement buys time to find openings, but what makes him special is he keeps his eyes downfield, finding easy chunks with accurate throws on the move. It goes without saying he’s an elite passer downfield; every deep ball was on target and either was completed or could’ve been. The way he controls the pocket, checks to secondary deep reads (opposed to merely checking down), and delivers catchable balls is unmatched."

Win the SEC?  Wow, that would be one of the greatest upset games in the history of conference playoffs
